And I still fail to see how they're competition for anyone who's depending on this FT. The better, steadier work posts under quals anyway. And a lot of the better ones I have weren't jumped on here much to begin with. I don't even think most people did the qual tests when they were up. And I know they were posted here.

Even if a well paying batch only makes up a small percentage of your earnings, the fact that doing that batch for 1 hour lets you not have to slave away at shitty batches for 7 hours is a big deal for a lot of us. And when there is increased competition for that one well-paying (often non-qualled) batch, yea, that is upsetting and frustrating. Everyone has their own views on generosity / why we should or shouldn't post HITs. I'm not telling anyone else what to do. I try to share things when I can to help others, but it does annoy me when someone who does nothing (never posts HITS, never likes the posts of others, never even says "good morning") gets a free ride. And full disclosure: I do not have masters and I also do not have any great quals. So maybe I'm a little more sensitive than others who aren't in that position.
I used to say, "Good Morning." and then dwell on who thanked it or not. Ha. I don't do Good Morning anymore..
I don't say it either but I try to thank those who do post it if I'm online then. Also, you'd be surprised how much more accommodating someone is via PM once you get to know them. The majority of the lucrative tips, tricks and hints I've gotten have been from forum members via PM. And I'm personally much more likely to share similar help with someone who is friendly to me. It's kinda like networking in that sense.
Well if that's the case, then we should shut down Hit Scraper, TM, TurkAssist, other grabby panda scripts I won't mention, and whatever other crazy stuff people have. I'm just amused that lurkers are being blamed for "stealing" hits when you've got scripts out there that literally make it so easy to grab work, you don't even need to be at the computer to do it. Just saying - there's your real competition.
I have had randoms from the internet PM me before. They googled a question and found me talking about it here and PMed me about it. I am cool with it. Kind of a reminder how public these forums are, though. (and permanent) edit* This one chick got a rejection on a survey and she didn't do rejections one tiny little bit. She googled and found I had gotten one too. She didn't know how to contact the requestor and I helped her and she got both of our rejections reversed. Ha! Spent days. Like a pit bull and a tire swing!!
You misread what I said. I never blamed lurkers for "stealing" anything. My issue is with people who freely give it to them. You can't steal something that is being given away for free. And there is a huge difference between a freely available tool like Scraper (which has a learning curve as I'm sure we all realize) and being spoon fed HITs. I didn't use to think like this until older forum members PM'd me and explained this logic. Of course, they got nothing but crap when they wrote it in the thread so they stopped trying to convince others about their views.

This particular hit started 25 minutes ago and not enough people showed up so I only received the dollar. But on the plus side I just worked other things while it sat on the other half of my screen for 10 minutes. That's something anyway.
I cant seem to get over 300 mark, always at $300 except for that week those huge sergey batches were posting. Greetings from Amazon Mechanical Turk, This is the weekly summary of your Mechanical Turk earnings for the week ending Apr 23, 2016. Total amount earned this week: $306.49

I was one of those people, but the other thing I said, privately and also publicly on the forum, was that it's really a matter of personal choice. You can't make someone share or not share, and you can't really claim that either is clearly right or wrong. It really depends on the person. Turk your own turk, forum your own forum? Mo is right about us being a drop in the bucket compared with the Facebook group, which is something I had zero knowledge of or experience with because screw Facebook, so it might be more to the point to get a botnet and DDoS Facebook.
I don't think I could ever make that kind of money doing this, no matter how much time and effort I devoted to it. I'll never understand how anybody manages it. Quals for good paying requesters tend to be hard to find, and if you do manage to get one, you never know when or if they'll post a batch, or how much you'll manage to grab when they do. Then they get all their work done and disappear on you. Most of the time I'm stuck doing crap that pays a dollar an hour, hoping for a survey or two to pop up to break the monotony.
The frustrating thing about acquiring quals is you can go run an errand and miss out on a good one. That said I wouldn't bother doing this without the quals I've accumulated over a couple of years.

I agree you can't tell anyone what to do or not to do. What I posted is a suggestion and that's all I ever claimed it was. I never tried to "make" anyone do or not do anything. You were one of the people with whom I spoke regarding the sharing of information. I didn't want to name anyone out of respect.
