This poll question reminds me of Jay-Z when he said something like "I can't help the poor if I'm one of them, so I got rich and gave back. To me, that's a win-win." So yeah, I'm the jerk who voted for becoming a billionaire. I promise that I'll give back after I make it!
I don't want to get too controversial, but I doubt Marie2Dessy would be worse than our shit-show of Presidential candidates. I think I could get on board with writing that name in.
I may be really wrong, but I think a billionaire could do a lot to curb poverty. It's tricky though, because poverty is a very complex sociological and economic topic that a lot of people dedicate their lives to, so it's unlikely that some random rich person is going to crack the code, even if they're obviously very smart and gifted. I don't really think that billions of dollars is making the difference, I think it's just a complex issue. It's probably also problematic that a lot of these people are basically idiots who accidentally stumbled into positions of power, but that's not really a popular suggestion.

I've been poor and it wasn't fun, but it wasn't the worst thing in the world. I didn't have kids though, and I'd imagine that being poor and having kids is just horrible. Not having kids, if I starve, that's my own stupid fault.
My, my over 600K HITs up and nary-an-arry to do. I've eaten 2 cheeseburgers( bear would be proud, even though they were little), read a book, took a nap, read some more, wondered around the house aimlessly(great use of time, here), ate a chunk of chocolate grenache cake(store bought, meh), and see nothing still going on, even the forum can't get up....a good brouhaha. And the poll wants to know if I want to be Donald Trump or Mother Teresa. Might just go back to bed....or I could find something else to eat.....
If you were a billionaire, I'd write a script that would auto-accept all of your hits. Good Guy Seeker, hooking me up with the money for rent and scotch.
If you gave a thousand dollars each, to a million people, that would be a billion dollars. A thousand dollars is not gonna cure poverty. A million people is not going to make a big dent. Maybe a tiny scratch that disappears in the rain.
