Hi all, I thought I'd start with a few requesters that we should not hit because they either reject hits or put hits up that are crap. Here's my list so far: DO NOT HIT: Scabl - cheap Zachary Olander - gets you to enter personal info, rejects a lot MIT Sloan School of Management - very long survey (1/2 hour plus for .50) Erica B Slotter - don't remember, but was on my 'do no hit' list Hellen Shurmer - this one just posted an easy $1 hit, probably screwed up on it, and then rejects me even though she screwed up. I'm still awaiting her email response to see if she will fix this (my guess is that she can't once it's rejected
Pep services--------------NEVER DO JOHN GADDY--------------KING OF WRITING HITS DAVID MATCHETT---------JACK OF WRITING HITS CASTINGWORDS-----------KING OF TRANSCRIPTION SPEAKER TEXT------------JACK OF TRANSCRIPTION YALE COGNITION----------KING OF SURVEYS
Classify This -- They will approve approve approve, then will mass reject you and kill you approval rating. They will not answer emails without just reasoning. Oh. They will also block you too.
Just wanted to add that my hit with Hellen Shurmer was also rejected (a $1.00 survey). I contacted the requestor to ask why it was rejected, but have not received a response as of yet. It would be nice to know why a hit was rejected.
In response to Rosemary Re: Helen There is no reason. She is a scammer as I mentioned. See the main forum, I posted the details there.
Similar Problems with Helen, Scabl Hello all! I just joined the MTURK forums today, and I have been MTURKing for about a month now. As of this moment, my hit rejection rate is at 1%, with 490 hits accepted and 5 rejected. One of these was from the company Scabl. Now, when I have problems with a HIT I am working on (specifically, surveys are the ones I usually do), I usually contact the employer when I submit the hit, to try to explain what issues I experienced during a hit. Well, after accepting AND COMPLETING a recent hit by Scabl (Social and Cognitive study of something) I was not generated a code at the end of the survey. I submitted, and explained, in hopes of them being responsible for their tests and any bugs/glitches within. I received an e-mail back a few days from someone who did not identify who they were, what company the hit was for, or any more details that could have helped me to identify the survey, being that it wasn't exactly fresh in my mind. On top of that, the sender of the e-mail was inquiring about an 'error message' (Nowhere in my submission did I mention anything about that). So, of course, I started wracking my brain trying to remember an error message. I couldn't remember one. I believe I e-mailed back and told them I was having trouble remembering the error message. I was rejected shortly after this last e-mail. While I do give them credit for showing that they tried, I do not believe the outcome would have been different either way, being that they were asking me a question that couldn't be answered. Needless to say, I am the type of person to e-mail every rejection I have (there's only been 5). I e-mailed them through the link I got on my HITS page, and they told me I was rejected because they got no data, they tried to work with me, and that I could've submitted a description of the paragraph from the survey to confirm my participation (First time I've heard of that option). Needless to say, I feel that Scabl unjustly rejected my work, and they are NOT worth the effort of completing and trying to get your money. Thanks for listening, I am a bit frustrated about this; and I thought that I would spread the word....Also I do believe that Helen is one of my 5 rejections as well....what are the odds? LOL!
Scabl - not worth it and untrustworthy Scabl also rejected me for no apparent reason. That and that they are cheap is the reason I listed them. Out of two HITs through them, the first one paid (took an extremely long time, $1 an hour equivalent) and I quit them after the second one which was rejected. Yeah, we should boycott them.
Add ProductRnR - 1 cent for an easily moderating images. BUT!! They load 3 or 4 broken images and if you accept the hit, they will reject your work. They know too well that the images don't load and get you to work for free. I tried to contact them 4 times to ask how many are "too many."
for my case I stopped doing the CF's card works of checking the fields and they use an auto approval that is the most wrong thing they doing to value our task. The case is that if many people done worng answer and we do the correct answer our answer will be rejected against the false majority % of bad turkers. I got some mails from them and got some money from them as bonus and apologizing to me telling me to do more HITs from them. I tried and same happened many times thus my approval rate gone down for no reason. So me say a big NO to theirs (CF) card work of checking the fields.
I should add some more bad requester's name in this list: Sebastian Darr Redwood Formerly known as SpeechText
I got scammed twice today! I feel bad because I don't remember their names, but I do remember a detail about the hit. They ask you to write a nickname before you start, and near the end of the survey they ask you to write about an experience for exactly seven minutes. You cannot move forward until their timer counts down to zero seconds, and then that's the end of the survey. That's it. They say thanks, and then give you the code. When you go to submit, it says the hit timed out! They are the ones who don't let you finish until they let you! No matter what, it will say it timed out. It's not a co-incidence that the code word is TURTLE. Very funny. It takes a real loser to spend his time doing that to people. Sad and pathetic. Probably has no friends.
You can see the details of each day. It gives out info like name of requester, hit name, reward amount, approved/rejected and feedback. Fish out the names from there.
@Noliah, Yes Sachin told it right you can fish out the requester ID and name from there from your dashboard...
If you see Brian Miller on any offers I would avoid him like the plague. He has a survey which is a scam and doesn't go to a site even that you could complete the offer either way. Also hi I am new. Also I have a bunch as I was brand new from them. That's really going to tank my rating if they do. I don't recall broken images though at least for me. Currently I have had only 1 rejected ever and it was by the scammer above(98.4% approval with 1 reject so far). They are still sitting at pending for now. I will respond once they credit or reject it.
ProductRnR is awful I did around 400 HITs for them before they started mass rejecting. They said it was "due to low accuracy". Well, that can't be right because I was really and honestly CHECKING my work. Especially after they rejected the first one. I switched over to checking whether video URLs were still active, but they haven't accepted those in over a week. I went back through my history, and some of the videos that were active when I took the HIT are now expired, so I KNOW I'm going to get rejected for those....he is the only person who has rejected me, and because of him, my % is at 3 percent and I know when he gets around to 'rejecting' my other work, it's going to shoot up. DO NOT ACCEPT THEIR HITS. When the first rejected piece came through, I e-mailed them and asked them what was wrong about it, and that I enjoyed working HITs and would like to know how I could improve myself. They haven't responded.
When I first started here, I took a ton of Redwood requests. What's wrong with him? I have never gotten a rejection from their HITs at all. My first 1k HITs were with Redwood and it was a joy working for him. What was your bad experience, might I ask?
ProductRnR did the same thing to me so I don't work for them. As for anyone's rating being hurt, it doesn't take that long to get it back up. Just do a bunch of HITS you KNOW will get approved and your approval will quickly increase. Fluffy Cloud sucks too. I don't do theirs either.
Wow, it is scary out there! I never do a HIT without checking first with Turkopticon and with you guys. Thank you for the great work!
If you see anything from gillian gallagher avoid it. Their also a scammer or aren't verifying their stuff properly. Their not even a normal one either as they are doing research and still threw a deny at me when I can actually recall I answered it according to their guidelines. I am contacting them now but I would say it stands otherwise currently. If anyone else has any other experience with them let me know.
