Yeah, my favorites are the lectures about Reaper music software. I've done so many about Photoshop (and Illustrator, Bridge, etc.) now though a lot of the time I know what the teacher is going to say before they say it. That's actually a big help. I'm irritated about this still though, very much. I've done a lot of work for Crowdsurf, and flipping to overnight all the time (if that continues to happen which it may not) in order to get paid what I was already making is so not cool. And for all I know they'll find people who barely speak english to take the lower rate. Sure, they'll figure out that's not the way to go eventually but still. This sucks.
The seminar that is up now is going pretty fast, I only did a couple but it took me over a minute to do them. Those people really cram a lot of information in 25 seconds!
"Work "medium priority" HITs first for more than 15% bonus. Please see updated guidelines: for formulas and numbers." That was on the transcriber box today below the video. What a load of b.s. it's not a bonus when they're just giving back what they've taken away.
When they mention it in the box like that with a percentage, that means the bonus is already included in the hit. like when they have hits that say "great pay rate" the price for those is generally 30% higher so it'll say "work great pay rate hits first for a 30% bonus" those are worked into the hit. When it says something like "get a bonus of 1.00 per 100 hits works, 2.00 for 150 hits worked by such and such time" etc. those bonuses are done separately after the time limit is up and they calculate how many hits you did during the time frame. I've gotten those before, generally a day or two after the bonus period was completed. It drives me nuts that hits that they are calling medium priority used to be regular hits but now they're acting like they're bonus hits. Apparently they plan on low balling us by default. I've got my fingers crossed that maybe our regular crowdsurf person is on vacation and someone is going crazy in the office with stupid ideas. LOL I keep imagining someone coming back to work like WTH are you doing man and fixing everything. Probably not gonna happen but a gal can dream. I sent another note to them basically saying what you said turk, that it was hilariously insulting that they're calling regular hits bonus hits now. Like I'm not gonna notice pffft.
Looks to me like the whole thing is a flop. The low hits pile up until they become medium hits, then they get done. Now there's almost 1000 of each.
I've now changed my mind, since the low ones just pile up, the medium ones can't all be done in time, and now I'm getting high priority hits most of the time. LOL talk about a backfire.
I agree, I think this backfired on them big time! My husband said they are making lots of money off these transcriptions hits and to cut the pay like that was ridiculous.
Yeah, def. looking like an epic fail on their part. There's over 4k medium priority hits up there now. Wonder how many are going to end up being high priority because of this failed experiment. Jokes on them though since they brought it on themselves.
I thought the same thing. It seems like the hits are being approved a little slower today too. Wonder if they did the same with the reviewers and lowered their pay too so no one wants to do those. Usually mine get approved in minutes, some of these are taking quite some time to approve.
I agree with everyone about the cut in pay. I've been away from mturk for awhile and was shocked to log in yesterday and see the various tiers of hits. I checked out all the different ones to see if there was any difference - nope, same-o, same-o. Some of the new speakers talk really fast, so my per-minute rate drops with them. I did get a reject on one of the 5-second hits yesterday - WTH? - so I messaged them to ask about it. They replied that it was an error on the reviewer's part, the reviewer has been chastised, and they gave me a 10 cent bonus for my trouble. So if any of you get rejects, message them via your dashboard.
