The university takes its name from 19th-century Maryland philanthropist Johns Hopkins, an entrepreneur and abolitionist with Quaker roots who believed in improving public health and education in Baltimore and beyond.
You learn something new every day. Really thought (hoped?) it was the same as*h*le that Boone knew from work.
I too thought Johns Hopkins was named afer two separate people. What I heard it was formed by Tommy Johns and Bernard Hopkins. Tommy of the famous elbow surgery and Hopkins of facial reconstruction surgery fame. Damn InfoWars!
Or was it former boxing champ Bernard "The Executioner" Hopkins? He reconstructed some faces in his day too.
Anyways, it's getting perilously close to "Night Crew" time and I'm strictly morning and day crew. Strict curfew, ladies and gents. Peace the Frog out!
No, we thought the name was 2 last names of 2 people, like Carnegie-Mellon U or Sloan-Kettering Hospital.
