I grew up (and still live) in Alabama. My Grandmother is basically a southern version of Hyacinth. She was still using finger bowls for week day lunches into the mid-90s. She has full blown gardening ensembles with matching costume jewelry pieces. She's hilarious. I cut about 15" of hair off recently and she told me she didn't understand why I wanted to be so alternative. I literally have zero piercings, visible tattoos, and most of my clothes come from Banana Republic. I've obviously gone full punk.
Wow, shocked that Chris Cornell died! When I think of the "grunge era", the five most visible lead singers were (top of my head) Kurt Cobain, Eddie Vedder, Layne Staley, Scott Weiland and Chris Cornell. Four out of Five are dead now.
He doesnt seem cheap for his surveys in my opinion just annoyed that he was expecting to get his quota and then finding out he is far from it and wasting his money basically. I can see why he would go into a blame others mode in his position personally but such is life.
Love it! We're from Mississippi. I have two aunts on my and my husband's side that are a mashup of Hyacinth. I doubt that they used finger bowls though! Is it just me or is it a Southern thing? Pretty much what I said to him was if you are not getting the coverage that you are looking for, you may need to reevaluate your standards. I also pointed out that with the amount of people who were being rejected, it was above the turking average and it was going to negatively impact him.
