Mornin' everyone! Looking for a bit of advice here. My goal today is to break $20, and I intend to hit that goal by the end of the night. I'm running Turkmaster and HITScraper, have a few PandA's set up and running, but I just don't seem to be nearly as efficient as the majority of you guys. Do you normally chip away at a low-paying batch until TM dings (something to grind through), or do you gamble with staring at HITScraper for hours in the hopes of going at a lucrative batch first? Not looking for specific requesters or anything - I know a good requester can be sacred - , just some general advice on improving my own efficiency. Hoping to go back to school this fall, and every bit I make on here is going towards that goal.
I mean, $20 is not a very high bar if you're gonna be on all day. You could get there easily just by doing every survey over a quarter that doesn't look awful, and jumping into whatever batches get posted here. Before I got masters that was my minimum goal too, and there was rarely a day I couldn't reach it just doing stuff in my spare time while I'm at work (using the above formula, basically).
I'm actually turking on a laptop right now. Working a split shift, so I have a few hours between my morning and night shift to get HITs done here, and by the time night rolls around for me there's little to do (I think, anyways). I'm looking to make the most of the small window I have into more prime hours.
I'm only into b/w classics if we're counting Twilight Zone, and I think I might have seen a period drama once that I didn't actively dislike. Otherwise, yeah, you're pretty much right.
You're going to get wildly different responses to this. I usually sit and wait for the better stuff to post. I use my off-time to do tutorials and research instead of touching the underpaid stuff. Or I'll do some surveys while waiting. But that's probably not the norm. I know some prefer to work straight through.
That's more tricky, yeah. You can't guarantee anything great is gonna post during that time, especially since it's Friday of a week that wasn't spectacular anyway. People with the best results are usually at least within shouting distance of their PC all day in case something good drops.
Always do something never sit idle. If you can have 2 screens 1 for work and 1 for Scrapper that will help a lot.
This will drive you crazy But this won't make you any money. Are you over 5000 hits? If not. Get there asap, even if you have to do penny or two cent batches. There are plenty of great batches available to everyone over 5k. As for the hours, surveys normally only post between 8am-6pm est. My best advice is if you find a batch you like that pays well, don't worry about TO, or approval times, or anything else-- just do a good job and go as fast as you can.
Come to think of it...I'm putting you on the A Royal Affair train, too. Plz see this movie (you have until the 25th to watch it on Netflix). I think you'd like it. It's not what you'd expect - the romance part, to me, was just filler for the real story behind it, which was fucking excellent (and I'm not kidding you, I *still* feel like someone kicked me in the tummy weeks later). It's got subtitles, though, so you might wanna watch that while totally sober and not exhausted LOL. Anyhoo, re: Classics, you seen Sunset Boulevard? Omg. I think it's on...lemme peek...Yeah it's on Netflix. So creepy good. I think it's dark enough to hold your attention lol.
The acting is phenom. So much to love about that film. Catch it before they take it away again. I saw it on television but now that it's back on Netflix, I should watch it again. Edit: In the same vein, All About Eve was great, too. But Sunset is way creepier.
I prefer those old movies with really fast-paced sarcastic dialogue. There used to be an art to snarkiness. Any combination of William Powell, Myrna Loy, Katharine Hepburn, Cary Grant, Irene Dunne, Carole Lombard, Barbara Stanwyck, Jean Arthur. Marx Bros. too, of course.
Omg yes. And the Marx Bros.!!! I watched them over and over and over as a kid. Brilliant. Surprised Netflix doesn't carry any of their movies. They were hilarious.
I change my strategy whenever I'm not happy with my results, but right now I'm basically doing the same as you. I just scrape for batches and wait for something good. When something pops up, I work like a crazy person until the batch is dead, then I go back to doing other shit. I only bother with surveys if somebody posts them on here. I change on a whim though, so if you'd asked me a month ago I would have given a completely different answer, lol. Yes, please do! Otherwise we both know that I'll be like "I was going to watch something...what was it again? Oh well..."
So tired of TM giving me "You have exceeded the maximum allowed page request rate for this website" message every time I try to work off a queue of a batch. This happens even when I only have one panda going with everything else paused.
I am over 5k hits, and actually coming up on 10k here pretty soon. Thanks for the advice, too - I tend to obsess over the TO, though approval times don't mean much to me. Only three rejections so far and my listed accuracy is 100%, and seeing anything other than nearly perfect scores in TO always has me second-guessing whether to work for them or not. I do have a couple of extra monitors lying around my apartment. I'll have to hook one of them up and try this out. Thanks! Fair enough. I get kinda antsy if I'm not working straight through, myself. True, true. Thanks for the advice.
