    I think that would help when trying to use the webcam with a new application.. but the thing is... my computer doesn't even recognize that it has a webcam anymore. It is not listed under "my devices." No way to even update drivers when it doesn't even list it as a device :( System restore looks like my only option... too bad my system restore stopped working ages ago. ugh.

    In Device Manager does anything show up if you select View > Show hidden devices?

    My old laptop sometimes wouldn't recognize my webcam unless the screen was positioned a certain way.

    Yes, more things pop up. But the webcam is supposed to show up under "Imaging devices." Imaging devices is already there and just has my old printer listed in it. A shite-ton of people seem to have the same problem as me over the years. It's with built in webcams in HP computers.
