My built-in webcam and microphone were working fine, earlier this month. I did one of those Eyeapp HITs that track your eyes. Now my computer doesn't even have my webcam or microphone listed as devices. Anybody else have this problem? I have ordered a usb webcam/mic for $3.50/ free shipping from amazon, but it won't arrive until May 11-30. I'm guessing it's being shipped from China.

Why doesn't MTF have a resident tech expert? You'd think quite a few people here would be computer whizzes. Maybe they don't work for free...

Your comment seems like a snide remark to me. I could be wrong. "Maybe they don't work for free..." Are you implying that I should pay somebody to look into my problem? If you reread what I wrote, I never asked for any advice. I simply asked if anybody else had the same problem. If so, then I might be able to narrow down what caused my problem. From looking into many tech forums, the most likely thing is that the wire connecting my webcam came loose.
I almost never do this but am lazy tonight so ordered Pizza and wings I blame the forum for this :rolleyes:
Not what I meant at all. Just it seems like I don't see much assistance with tech problems here in general, but maybe people talk in PMs on fixes. And given the nature of mturk and some tech savvy people, I'd naturally assume there'd be someone here with a reputation for knowing how to fix stuff, but if there is, I'm not aware.
I'm looking for a different reason, because I'm not using a laptop. I'm using a desktop with a 24 inch monitor. I don't think I can open up this monitor. Or at least attempting to... and breaking it is not worth it to me when I can get a usb webcam for $3.50.
