anyone here have any home remedies for a high fever and dry cough? I've taken a whole pack of mucinex, I've tried zyrtec (at first I thought I was having an allergy attack) and I've been taking advil every 6 hours to try and keep the fever down. I have halls cough drops and Ricola's but neither work. I've been drinking ice water non stop all day. Have stayed away from all smoke and fragrances. I just want to get some sleep tonight and then if I'm still sick in the morning I'll go to the doctor. The hot shower seems to help as long as I'm in the shower, soon as I get out I'm back to hacking up a lung. I got these coodies from either my kids or my moms retirement home. It's been so long since I've been sick I don't know what to do. My cabinet is full of childrens remedies and nothing for adults LOL
Free Advice to all our guests... Strive to get a minimum of six (6) REJECTS per month so they know you are not a BOT.
Or try to get them to suspend your account. I was suspended for two weeks and then when they gave it back to me they gave me Masters.
Everything I'm seeing from Mayo Clinic/WebMD suggests what you're already doing on the fever side. Just be careful not to take too much of the stuff. Taking that much Advil would make me nervous. On the cough side, you could try a little herbal tea (green, chamomile, or maybe mint), and add some grated fresh ginger, lemon, and honey into it. If you don't like tea, just use hot water with lemon and honey. Could also make some peppermint or spearmint tea, lean over the mug, toss a towel over your head, and inhale the shit out of the steam. Have any Bourbon in the house? Seriously. Even when I was a kid my mother would get a teaspoon of sugar and then douse it with Bourbon. Helps the cough and helps you sleep. Also, elevate your head. I have slept in the recliner several nights because I couldn't laydown or I'd have coughing fits.

Make a hot cup of tea with a liberal dose of honey. If you don't have tea the honey will help but it's better with the tea.
So I'm not currently sick but from what I understand I should go buy a handle of honey whiskey just in case, right? Right?
If you are still awake, try this out. Take some vicks vaporub and rub it on the bottoms of your feet. Put some socks on and then crawl into bed. You will smell the vicks in your sinuses in no time. My brother in law is asian and said that this was a remedy for them because in some way, the soles of your feet are connected to the same blood vessels in your sinuses or something like that. I didn't believe it, but was desperate and tried it one day. The blast you get in your sinuses is amazingly strong and it helped a lot. If anything, it's better than getting that oily crap all over your face and chest.
yeah, I saw that I had to listen to 2 minutes of a song. I was expecting the most annoying thing ever. Then this nice soothing music started. Then I was expecting a huge amount of bubbles afterwards. They never came. Everything about this hit was nice. Content, Time and Pay.
My German mother in law used to swear by rubbing vicks on the feet, more for babies but why wouldn't it work for adults.
