hey, just wondering if anyone has had any issue with the requester "MELI - Mechanical Turk" this morning, i completed 33 HITs for this requester before i realized they were rejecting every single one of them. this is my first week on Mturk, so this big series of rejections has pretty much destroyed my current approval rating. as far as i know, i did everything right. but if no one's ever had an issue with them, maybe i did something wrong? the task was really, really simple, so that seems unlikely, but i'm new here, so it's totally possible. this morning, i messaged "MELI - Mechanical Turk" and sent a message to the Mechanical Turk staff about my issue, but they've yet to reply. anyway any thoughts would be appreciated thanks
Well, lesson learned. Read forums about HITs BEFORE doing them. Did a ton of these just now, and he's slowly rejecting them one by one. What a tool.
Ouch yeah that sucks. I actually found the hits before I knew about TO or the forum. Thankfully I noticed the rejection right when it happened so only ended up doing like 4 and was rejected for 2 of them. Could have definitely been a lot worse.
MELI's still at it. He rejected ONE of my hits the first day I was on MTurk. I didn't really remember the incident; I did a few hits this morning and they were auto-rejected on what I feel to be false grounds. There's just no way everyone on MTurk is that incompetent. Obviously MELI is pulling something. I went to Turkopticon--this MELI has possibly the worst reputation of anyone. Isn't there SOMETHING we can do to to shut him down? This is ridiculous.
A week or two back, I also did around 10 of them and all of them were rejected because I missed test images in all submissions.
I did four of them and they were all rejected, I had only one rejection before today which was cleared. I wrote to this Meli thinking she would help me, and received no answer. Then I saw she was seen as a famous deceiver in different forums. This person is doing something definitely suspicious. I read that she works at MercadoLibre.com, which is a cheap version of Ebay for Latin America. That would explain what a few people seem to agree on; she rejects them so as not to pay, but she does use our work. I just hope we can do something about it and have this 'thief' out of Amazon Turks.
I read the TO reviews and while most people list massive rejections due to the auto-reject feature, there ARE people stating that they have been paid for their work. I'm looking at the HIT right now and it very boldly states that any error detected will be rejected immediately. Workers who state they don't have mass rejections say if you don't get an immediate rejection on a HIT, it'll take a couple days before they pay, so I decided to run a test on a single HIT. Still pending decision, will report back... I will tell y'all exactly what I flagged (I took note) and what things I did not flag but initially questioned. It might clarify some things... Not saying it'll make anyone want to work on them moving forward, but might help people understand why the auto-reject kicked it out. My experience with auto-reject situations has been that the reject algorithm is often based on a compilation of data from other mturker results. I am willing to bet that they have had a pass through of the images by native Spanish speakers already where they classified the photos and entered any promotional text/seller logo info into a form, and when you review the images, it runs the results of your flagging against that compiled data to determine if the photos are being appropriately rejected. Can anyone tell me how long it takes for the rejection?
The rejects take place within an hour usually. And this requester is KILLING honest workers reputations. If you need workers to speak a certain language give a warning or have a qualifier. I agree that this requester is flat out scamming for free work and Amazon is letting them get away with it. Amazon seriously needs away for WORKER to be able to report bad requesters just like requesters can hard block workers.
I did these MELI HITs my 2nd day of turkkng. A total of 42 HITs so far 37 were auto rejected maybe I will get paid for the rest of them who knows. I have definitely learned my leason about reading reviews BEFORE i do a HIT. I am slowly working my way through this turk bs with MELI and Oscar Smith.
I also had a problem being rejected on many hits. It seemed to be pretty straight forward. If an image basically had an advertiser imposed, I would reject. If an image was of poor quality to do the same, but I guess is subject to opinion. I'm new and had good rating until I did stuff for this requestor. So I'm trying to build rep up again. I would avoid this requestor, just to avoid rejects in what appears to be a really, really simple task.
This is still happening with MELI. Just this morning I got up earlier than I normally would and stumbled across this requestor. I performed 71 of their hits and so far 35 have been rejected. I would recommend contacting the customer service email address with your concerns. My rating has been affected as well as others. This type of behavior is not right and the more emails that Mturk receive with regards to our complaints, perhaps something will be done...in the meantime, steer clear of MELI!!!
Guys, as an update, I recently contacted Mturk customer service with regards to this requestor. They instructed me to report each hit as either broken or in violation of policy. I went in this morning and clicked on broken for a number of the posted hits. I recommend you doing the same. If they receive enough responses, I'm sure this type of behavior will be corrected. What MELI is doing is obviously affecting our ratings and there is no way all of us are incorrect in our submitted work. I for one am outraged that I spent an hour doing the hits to fine out that almost exactly half were rejected. Please be sure to report this suspicious activity to Mturk customer service.
Unless I am mistaken, Amazon doesn't get anything from a rejected hit, so scam requesters are of no use to them.
That is my understanding too ewd76, but I think the point is this...if we report the wrongdoing, and put it in terms that Mturk can appreciate (you are losing money because people are getting frustrated), they might have a tendency to correct the wrong doing. It can't be one or two people requesting that the requester be looked at. It's obvious that MELI is not practicing fair employment acts. I realize we aren't talking about a ton of money, but for them to do what they are doing, just isn't fair to those doing the right thing. Silence is approval. Without saying anything, the wrong doing will continue. Happy turking folks!
I am just beginning my turning journey and i was scorned by everyone's favorite Villan early on. Did five MELI Turks and four of them were rejected. Magically, one of them was approved. this means i am the chosen one i am sure.
Just noticed MELI is now called "MercadoLibre." Just so you don't accidentally do one of their hits. I also notice they seem to have changed the wording in their hits to Spanish language; maybe so they can only con Latin Americans from now on. Man, I wish these guys would drop dead.
Hi to all, my name is Alan from Mexico and I have been working on their Hit's for quite a while now, not on the pictures ones but on the "¿Esta publicación está ubicada en la categoría correcta y tiene un precio adecuado?" has anyone ever get a response from them? I contacted them more than a week ago and yeah, nothing yet so today i sent Amazon a complaint. They do reject a lot but they do pay too, but the rejection really does bad things for reputation. Anyone got news on them? Thanks!
