I need 5,000 rows of data collected, I posted it for 10 cents per row. The effective hourly rate is $7.23. Amazon would only let me publish 50 rows at a time, and roughly 24 hours after posting, only 3 HITS have been completed. My questions are: 1) Is this normal? Is it this slow? 2) Is my rate high or low? 3) Does raising my rate dramatically increase the number of workers? Thanks, Kevin
I doubt that it is slow, weekends people are always looking for work to do. Depending on the worker they want to do hits that are at your pay rate but can be completed in a minute or two. can you post a link to the hit so others can see it? Wthout seeing it my initial guess would be that it is too much work for the pay. Onthe other hand, raising the pay may not increase the number of workers. Some workers just like to do test hits. Post the link here maybe that will help.
Link to the hit and I will go check it out. Then I will be able to give you some advise. btw thanks for dropping by the forum =]
link Thanks for all the replies, I think this is the link: https://requester.mturk.com/batches/914554 Kevin
Honestly.. finding all that data is near impossible tbh. No wonder hardly anyone is doing them. I attempted one already and after 10 mins I gave up. Your pay rate is the equivalent of 1 minutes worth of searching. Most people wont touch a hit unless it equals out to $6 hr. This is most likely your problem and why people are avoiding them.
Here's a link for a HIT (I don't see a place as a requester to share a link to a batch): https://www.mturk.com/mturk/preview?groupId=2PBXCNHMVHVKMGAD7KT7CJ79TYY13H
Yes due to the 60 seconds I tried to find the info without accepting the hit. Forgot to mention that issue.
I posted links to all the tools you need. Once you have Rapportive installed, it takes about 30 - 45 seconds. The 3 that were submitted were all done in under a minute. I've provided pre-populated Google searches to help, and they all get you the information you need. Maybe I need to communicate it better?
Should I change it to a few minutes? Honestly, once you do a few, it's very quick, maybe there is a learning curve.
You must understand. The timer works funny. Sometimes it will start off at near 30 seconds. Look in your stats and see how many abandons you are getting. This will let you know the timer is way to short.
Thanks for the feedback, wow, what a great forum. I will update to 5 minutes and see if I get a better response.
I've had HITs that are 60 seconds and by the time my browser decides to load the thing i'm already at 15...definitely account for a possible slow load time.
I agree. I don't even attempt 60 second HITs because anything can happen.... your eye starts itching, your net connection goes out for a second, you need to take a sip of water..... I'm also always really scared to do data HITs like those because so many requesters who post this kind of work are so quick to reject it for the slightest reason.
