I just wanted to say thank you so much for this thread! I've been familiar with mTurk for a while, but I'm only just recently getting serious about it and finding the info about the scripts and all the helpful advice has been amazing! This thread has answered a lot of my questions!
Can someone explain to me how to search these boards? Whenever I do a search for a specific topic I get a list of threads that would take me forever to search through? Specifically I'm looking for a guide (that is better than what is on their HITS) to do the Venue HITS. I searched through requesters and could not find a sub forum. I've emailed them a number of times and have not heard back. Any direction would be great. Thanks.
Those HITs are pretty straight-forward. Do you have any specific questions about them? I can probably help. That's why I'm here
Leave it to me to over think a penny hit! I've had 2 expire on me trying to get enough information to determine if they were different venues. How would you rate this one. Slightly different names El Toro and Toro (those weren't the names but you get the idea) different house number 3078 mission and 3087 misson both in San Francisco...being from the area I know there is no Toro at 3087, that they are the same place and someone has transposed numbers. But will they know that? Their rules would suggest that they are different places. Am I allowed to go with my own judgment? You guys have me worried to death about a hard block.
Not to be the IRS police, but you are supposed to pay taxes on everything you make. You simply won't get a 1099. You should be paying social security on anything over $400 also.
(1) For the Block Requesters (Fixed) 1.0.0, how do you unblock a blocked requester? (2) For Block Request 0.0.5, does this script work? It's not for me.

It took 3 days for my application to process so that I could begin working while they verified my account, and 3 or 4 days to verify additional information after my account was restricted (unable to verify some information). Is there a hierarchy? I've taken qualification tests for various other requesters by now, but CrowdSource doesn't seem to actually have tests. I've requested qualifications, but never heard back from them. I ask because I'm interested in their article editing HITs, but am unsure how to work my way up. 2) What are some good HITs for a relative newcomer to make a decent (and consistent) hourly income? I'd like to make $20-$30 a day, and being that I'm unemployed and taking a break from college, I basically have all day to turk, but I'm finding it difficult to make my goal. For reference, my stats are 1312 approved HITs (99.8%) with 3 rejections and 3 abandons, though as I understand it the latter two aren't of much consequence. I'm sure there was something else, but for now if anyone can provide some feedback there I'd appreciate it.
Can someone give me some examples of what to "tag" a photo. If you need one word say, and the picture shows a family. Would correct "tags" be man, woman, child, dress, top, a color shown in the pic??? There are lots of these to be done, but I'm uncertain of what to put. Thanks so much.
yes, I am. I have corresponded with him. He is gonna give us some examples to help. But he has some ready for the next picture ones, not the creating tag ones. I don't think he completely understood which ones I was talking about.
