So I haven't done HITs in 5+ years at this point after being very active in the mid to late 2010s. A couple months ago I logged into MTurk and was greeted with the following message:

"Your Amazon Payments account has been suspended

You will not be able to use Amazon Mechanical Turk until your Amazon Payments account is in good standing. If you believe this suspension is an error, please contact Amazon Payments Customer Service to resolve this problem."

I used the email contact option in the link on that page, located here:

    https://payments.amazon.com/sdui/sdui/contactussend

I've never received any correspondence back, despite using this email function twice. I tried to use the phone call option, but it always gives an error when I input my phone number.

So I have no idea how to remedy this situation and get my account back in "good standing" whatever that means. I've read stories of users getting similar message a few years back when they were residing outside the US, but I live in the US and have never left the country. I'd be happy to provide ID or whatever they need but I need a way to contact someone who will actually interact with me.

I want to start doing HITs again but I need to get my account cleared in order to do so. My account has a lot of qualifications and over 14,000 completed HITs (which qualifies for a good number of other HITs) so starting over with a new account is not an option. Plus this account is the same as my regular Amazon account and that's where I would want to transfer my earnings to from Payments into gift card balance, so that would do me no good on a new account.

    Welcome back!

Sorry to hear about losing the account. I heard Mturk was suspending people now for inactivity. Sounds like a good idea in theory to protect your account so that it doesn't get hacked/stolen during inactivity but they should make it easier for people to get their accounts back after inactivity.

They changed their Amazon Payments years ago to confirm our banking/name. (We can't use pseudo names anymore, they require you to use your full name to link to your bank account) I'm not sure exactly when. It has different method now where we choose how often we get paid. Not sure if that was before you stopped doing Mturk or after.

Keep trying or try googling to see if there are alternate numbers you can use. Or even try Amazon's customer service? Amazon's Reps probably have no clue what Mturk is from what I heard.

Hope you can get your account back.

I never used a bank account I always just withdrew to my Amazon gift card balance, but I used my real full name before, and I had put in my SSN.

I'll google around and try to find an alternate number. If anyone else has any input I appreciate it. And I appreciate your help too.
