<rant> I hate this new captcha, I have so much trouble telling what it should be. Just got locked out for 5 minutes. So annoying I tried so hard with each one.
lol...Been noticing the new captcha fonts thts now shown.... Unlike prevoiusly a new captcha appears after entering an incorrect one. I must say the new style is much better and readable than the old ones !!
I liked the old ones which were meaningful words and made for easy entry. The new ones are a bit tedious - and a pain in a** - Why can't amazon do away with this captcha thing or increase the number of HITs before we are required to enter it. I understand that the logic behind captcha is to ensure that no one is gaming the system, or using automated software to do the tasks, but HIT = Human Intelligence Tasks, if a software is capable of doing the task, why would the requester post his work here. And @interneteditor thanks for starting this thread, I was about to post on this new captcha thing, thinking that I was the only one getting it...lol
I agree Allan it is easier to "see" a real word, but maybe only for native/fluent English languagers - while I completely understand the need for spam/bot security, I just have trouble "seeing" the correct letters/number when they are at a strange angle and very close together. I wonder if people with dyslexia are being driven mad by it.
These new captchas are very annoying, especially that they change after each reload. But, overall I haven't had too much of a problem with them. I guess it helps that I've been doing captchas similar to these on other sites for quite a while.
SON OF A BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thats twice today ive got a 5 min time out...... This new system CHEATS!
Yeah this new captcha is annoying (I like it when they make real words) but it hasn't kicked me off yet.
This captcha really irritates ya, have to do very carefully, even i wont do hits this much carefully.
Whilst I sympathize with those who dislike the new captcha, I've found that the following trick helps me do them. This may not help anyone else besides me, but I will mention it anyway. I noticed that the characters in the captcha are positioned too close together (actually connected together) and this makes the text harder to read. So, when I read them, I try to imagine vertical grid-lines between the characters. Somehow, these imagined vertical separator lines help me to read the text a little-bit-more easily. (Sorry if that sounds lame or dumb. All I can say is that it helps me out, at least a little bit. It may not work for anyone else.)
