Is there a way to have it ping you whenever a requester posts new hits? or something similar

What I do is check for new posts and catch the requesters in their own forums. If you click on 'what's New?" often, you'll be able to catch any new posts that are out that you haven't read. But other than that I don't know of any notification that lets you know of it.

I didn't see this posted here yet (I think), but when you request a qualification from requester, how do you know if they accepted it or not? One person told me they get emails, but I've never gotten a single one. Either I'm getting qualified for Jack diddly or there has to be some other way for me to find out if I'm qualified. Do I just keep checking back on their HITs?

  4. You will get an email if a requester gives you a qual. But, it's actually quite rare to get one from requesting it on mturk, sadly.

  5. Yes. Visit http://www.turkalert.com and sign up, or download the Page Monitor add-on, and set it to your favorite requesters.

Are there any scripts that alert you when a captcha comes up? I didn't see anything like that in the tools forum, but I figured I'd ask before I started a request thread there.

Nobody mind me... just trying to see how tiny my avatar shows up... have no idea what I'm doing

  8. Nope, never heard of such a thing, but that would be neat!

Question about the 10 day probation period. Kind of confused if this is just a 10 day period or if you actually have to do a minimum of 1 hit a day for 10 days in a row before it will take you off the "probation period"

  10. You must log an overall 10 days of Turking. Doesn't have to be in a row, but just 10 days.

I've seen a couple people mention their rep on the great hits forum. What is that and any information surrounding it would be appreciated. Thanks!

On each post in the lower left hand corner, there is a "Thanks" button and a rep star. Clicking thanks is similar to like'ing something on Facebook. Clicking on the rep star, you have the option to approve or disapprove of someone's post, as well as leave a comment. I use this when someone posts something very helpful (approval), or if someone crosses the line in a negative way (disapproval).

Rep is reflected by the little green bar right above your avatar. As you get more positive rep, it grows bigger. If you get too much negative rep, it turns red. You can view your rep, if you have any, by clicking on Settings at the top of the screen.

All that said, I put little stock in rep and rarely use negative rep. I tend to judge people by the quality of their posts, but it can be a good way for newer people to get a quick feel for people who post.

While the rep comments are anonymous unless you sign them, it shouldn't be abused for making personal attacks. If you find that you don't like the ability to leave anonymous comments about your post (only you and the admin team can see them), you can request it to be disabled on your account by PM'ing Andy.

Sooo. Why does my pending HITs script amount not equal my pending amount through HIT database?

And I just updated both before checking.

This might get better answered for me here than in the fast moving HIT thread.

    Per Nate:

So, here's the basics as far as what is ok and what is not ok to talk about, as far as surveys are considered. These rules really only apply to surveys, since they are trying to get honest and unadulterated responses. It's ok to talk about task or "batch" HITs.

    OK:
    Time
    Whether it's worth the pay
Anything that can be gathered from the preview page of the HIT
Overall opinions of the HIT, without specifics

    NOT OK:
    Anything about attention checks
    What the survey consists of
Basically, anything past the preview screen

  17. I think the Pending HITs script is broken. I may have something to do with the recent Chrome update? I don't know, but it's not working correctly for me either. I'm about to uninstall it, because HIT database seems to work fine, and I like its set-up a lot.

Okay. Yeah, I'm on Firefox and it seems to be acting up to, will probably also delete since HIT DB has more all in one, just wasn't sure what was causing it.

How good is turking in the summer? I'm worried it will be slow like around Christmas.

  20. I wasn't an active turker last summer, so I can't tell you for sure. However, I don't believe it will be that bad. Companies don't have a summer break like schools.

And, contrary to popular belief, the holidays are good for turking too. Thanksgiving thru New Year was the best turking I've EVER done.
