What are the best batch HITs to do when you're just starting up that are usually out if you are new? Trying to help my brother now that he signed up.

Just saw that you responded in the other thread, nevermind!

I would also suggest Venue Quality, TaskRabbit, Homezoo (when they show up), Crowdflower video sentiments, and Crowdsource google search HITs.

Does returning hits hurt your chance of doing hits later?

Not really. The only requester I've heard of who will block you for returning HITs is Oscar, and it's only specific to their HITs. Your return rate adds up to jack diddly in the grand scheme of things.

Yeah, as long as you have two separate accounts attached to separate bank accounts.

So I've just started Turking, been doing it for about a week now. I've been putting in a lot of time, and averaging ~$10-15 a day, which is nice, but I'm completely confused as to how people manage $20 a day or even the much higher numbers. I have no 'normal' job, and all my college classes are online so I am at the computer throughout the entire day. I have the time, but I don't know how to constantly find HITs to keep me busy, I'm really clueless on that. Can you guys let me know how you continue to find HITs throughout the day, to make $20+ a day? The HITs forum is awesome, and that's helped me get to $10-15 a day, but I'd like to go even further than that.

What is the day of the week that people have said seems to be most common that people receive masters on? I probably just jinxed the crap out of myself, but I'm getting antsy...I feel like I'm close and just have a feeling I'm gonna wake up one of these days and see that wonderful email.

    Scykoh,
Firstly you need to stop following the great HIT's thread. Surveys are not going to get you where you want to be. If you are available to be on the computer all day, and can pretty much work whenever, then you should have no trouble making $20 a day. You need to get away from surveys quick (assuming that is what you are doing since you said you follow the thread). I have done less than 10 surveys out of all 57k HIT's I've done. They do not make you money.

You need to start exploring everything, and watching for anything that looks good or pops up that you haven't seen before. Just keep searching and whenever you find something good, set up some alerts on it. I put a pic of my last 45 days, not as "bragging" as my neg rep I will get for this will say, but as a way to try and get people to see that it is possible to make more than these $20 daily goals. Granted, if you are limited on time that you can work 20 bucks may be all that is possible, but if you have all day your goal should be much higher than that, and it will come with time. I have not worked more than 8-10 hours in a day to achieve any of the days that I've had. Most of the days that I have that are less than $30, are just days where I was busy or didn't feel like working. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I have never had trouble making 50 bucks on a day I want to work, and usually more is feasible, although not always possible.

Also, attach an hourly wage to everything that you do. You wouldn't take a regular job for a few bucks an hour, so why work for that on here, is what I say. I'm pretty picky, and don't do something that pays less than $6 an hour, and I don't even like to work for that little unless it's a task that I enjoy.

Personally, I don't believe in giving requester's out. Everyone thinks I'm an idiot for thinking like this, but I have never gotten a single requester from this forum that I did not already find on my own. It just takes searching and patience.

I think the key thing is to attach that hourly wage to it. It helps you figure out if the task is worth it above all.

I really appreciate you taking the time to send me this reply, Turk. :) I'll definitely take what you've said into consideration, as I have indeed been spending probably 90% of my time on surveys.

Thanks again, I'll do my best to search out some great sources for HITs over the coming days/weeks, and hopefully have some results to show!

Turkin makes some good points, but I would hesitate to disregard all surveys. As they said, it's all about the hourly rate. If you can get a $.50 survey that takes 2-3 minutes, that's a win, or a $1.50 survey that takes 10 minutes, again that's a win. Surveys make up a small portion of my daily goal, usually less than 50%, but they do contribute. Diversify and find money where you can, whether it's surveys, batches, writing, transcribing, whatever.

I'm pretty sure it used to be Thursdays (that's when I got mine). I thought I read someone mention recently it's been happening on another day (Friday?), but I wasn't really paying attention.

How do you get masters? I know it's more than clicking a button, but what exactly do I have to do? Just be a good worker and wait?

I am having problems with the HIT Database. I have successfully loaded and am using on Chrome on my mac. Periodically I use a PC laptop for turking. Database showed up on my Chrome when I installed on my PC, however, it never loads with the HIT data. It always says "Please wait: script monkeys are preparing to start working". Is this for some reason an issue because I have running on two machines? separate operating systems? I also installed FF and Greasemonkey and subsequently HIT DataBase. It also showed up and looked like it was going to work, but it hung up on 3 (I forget the exact dialogue) when loading several times. Any help appreciated

No one knows! It's still a mystery. The best we've figured is to be extremely active, and work for a broad range of different requesters.

I just started turking a few days ago, and I'm wondering if there are any good qualification tests that might be keeping me from finding good HITs? I feel like I must be missing something because I can't fathom how people are making as much money as they do unless there are just a lot of HITs I'm not seeing. I can meet a $20 daily goal most days without too much difficulty, but it takes me all day and I know hourly I'm not even making close to minimum wage on average.

In case my skills are relevant, I'm an excellent writer, so if there are any writing qualifications I might be able to get or request (I know CrowdSource is closed right now, are there any others?) I'd like to know where to look for them. I'm also terrible at transcriptions (I don't hear very well, so I need to constantly repeat parts of the audio to get the words and it ends up not being very time-efficient).

If you just started, and you're making $20 a day, you're WELL ahead of the game.

PM me with your stats, and I'll see what I can recommend. (HITs approved, Approval rating, etc...)

Is there a limit to the amount of total rejections you can get? Will you get kicked from mturk if you go over a certain number?
