ACT is mandatory for all HS juniors in my district (I am the parent of a junior). We get waivers from the state Board of Education for the fees, unless you want to take the writing portion. Since writing isn't mandatory here, that fee isn't waived. All of it comes down to the fact that each locality is different, and it would really help to have clarification on how we're supposed to treat them.
And what about the SAT? And, is every ACT testing date mandatory for your junior to attend? I ask because I traveld a lot for sports and missed several testing days without penalty. edit: Honest questions, just trying to hash it out for everyone's benefit!
Morning guys! Quick question, if last day of school and an exam day are on the same day, last day has more importance right?
Right. I have just got reply from Dustin regarding same question: In that instance please only designate it as "Last Day of School". First and Last Day of School are the two most important designations for each calendar.
It's not mandatory. It could be that school districts want all students to take it for a statistical point, "look how high/low our kids score in this district" type of thing. Just not sure how Dustin wants them inputted. You can take them anytime you want for college admittance if you are still interested. Like Kris said they do have waivers for both. But it's not that high of a fee. ACT is about $30-50, depending if you take the writing part and SATs are also around $50. Here is a link for this school years testing dates. www.sdcoe.net/lret/avid/pdf/CollegePlacementTestDates_2012-13.pdf
Bertha's got it right. SATs aren't mandatory here. For that matter, I'm not sure to what extent ACTs are - if it's just my district, or the whole state. The ACT does seem to be the exam that a majority of colleges in the state require. A student goes only for one testing date. My daughter's virtual school is dictating the date, but not the location. I'm really looking forward to having some concrete guidance on how to input this stuff! @fairviewpark25 - responded
Just had one with a 3 week winter break, 2 week spring break and all the regular holidays off. Normal start and end times for the year. My 14 year old self is envious.
What does this mean? Does this mean the first and last day of school can't be a half day? Edit: Got a response from Dustin. Makes sense, I guess I thought it was worded a little weird in the guide.
Ok the one I just submitted didn't give the AMT Token message, it just said Calendar Saved! Is anyone else getting this? I don't want to miss getting credit. Thanks!
Could you have pressed Quit instead of submit? I haven't, but that might be it. Edit: I just pressed Quit to check it out and it takes me to the first page after the log in. No words about saving. Sorry
