Hello! Newb turker here and have officially decided to break my turker-luker-ness on this forum and ask why do people turk? I really am interested in why the people here are using mturk to make money, what are their goals, methods, etc?

Personally I found Mturk after my father told me I had to pay for my own car insurance (150$ a month) and since I don't have a job, I needed some extra income. I currently get 400$ a month in child support from my father (I'm a 19 y/o f/t college student) and pretty much all of that is accounted for between living expenses and other bills.

My goal with mturk is to make 10$ a day 5 days a week. Hopefully this means at the end of the month i'd have a total of 200$ from mturk in extra income. This is primarily just to pay my car insurance.

Right now I'm at 90$ with a few hits pending (95$ once those are cleared) and have been working on mturk for 10 days. I slacked off one of the days which is why I didn't hit the 100$ mark, but I'm gonna try to make it tonight...

    Share your mturk reasons/stories! I'm interested. :)

Most of my turking money goes towards student loans. This year I've also been able to pay my cell phone, internet and all other utilities with turking money. I look forward to the day I can use this money to buy myself a Bentley (pre-owned). :)

Welcome to the forum and gl with your turking career.

I think I know what you mean, but that sounds really weird.

First half the year, I don't make enough to survive. Second half of the year I build up savings. However I had open heart surgery last year, and the jump in medical bills wiped out my savings. I was getting desperate to find a second job for just a handful of hundred a month extra to get buy on. At the end of the week I will be putting my first 900 in my bank account. If things go the way I plan there will be another 800 dollars by the end of July. Most of the HITS I do pay out between 5 and 8 cents and I've been doing good at seeking out large batches that I can do 2 to 3 tasks a minute on.

I'm unemployed, so I'm doing mturk to tide me over until I get a real job or make enough money doing other online stuff (like writing) where I won't have to worry about getting one.

I just started living on my own (20y.o college student) and it kinda sucks never having any money to do fun things. However I didn't want to get another job, because I enjoy my free time and don't like set schedules. Sometimes I would have too much free time and nothing productive to do about it. So it was pretty much the perfect storm of reasons and mTurk lets me rake in extra cheese whenever im bored. Sure..i'm averaging maybe $5 an hour at best...but hey! No gas expenses, I can do this in my underwear, and I can do this while playing music or watching TV.

I came expecting to get 50 at most a month, but I managed to pull in $75 in two weeks. I revised my goal to be $150/mo now. If I get really good at it, I hope to make $300 a month. That would cover about 70% of my expenses, and allow me far more freedom to do fun things :)
