Even if they don't need masters, you'd think they'd hand out smallish groups, just enough for the odd person to post in forums.

    Just to provide hope/motivation/whatever.

Oh, wait, that's not what Amazon wants. Despair, hopelessness, envy... that sounds more like it.

I'm doing a little abacadabra frog routine in hopes the Amazon Gods will listen! Flailing arms and everything...

Seriously though, so much master stuff up relative to non-masters. Wouldn't mind seeing a couple of breaks this year.

The fishy part comes from that guy (earlier part of this thread) mentioning his friends couldn't sign up. I wonder if Amazon is seeing little to no growth with Mturk*. That's probably it.

They're really sending mixed signals. What about that new site, worker.mturk that they're creating?

Amazon has been nothing but mysterious to us.

I wonder if they were talking about setting up your bank account to get the payments? Because I recently added another bank account to amazon payments and there was no way to add an account. Normally you could do the 'test deposit' method or automatically verify but the automatic way was not available as apparently only 2 or 3 banks will still do that and the 'test deposits' are no longer offered as a way to setup a bank account. In order to setup another bank account to get paid I had manually contact amazon and fax them bank information to be manually approved. So I don't think the trouble signing up is specific to mturk, I would hope it has to do with Amazon itself implementing changes and hopefully they are 'improvements' because amazon payments isn't just specific to mturk I believe

Basic arithmetic is fine, but when you have a textual problem and you have to know how to apply mathematical principles, I'm often lost. Looks like we had 2 goodies today. Geometry is fine for me because it's concrete.

Which brings up the reason for a survey. Are you surveying the participant to get their opinions, or are you testing their mathematical ability? Just a rhetorical question.

Can't put codeine in OTC meds any more, only by Rx.

All the good drugs are hard to get these days.

Heroin used to be a trademark for Bayer:

Then again, they used radium in toothpaste and cosmetics for a while. Until they figured out radiation is a *bad* thing.

I'm glad they are much more cautious now.

It's always been that way in most states. Or, it's been that way for many many years.

In NC you could buy cough syrup with codeine without a prescription.

I'm taking Autocad now. I was a CAD tech before I went into the oil and gas industry 12 years ago. I think it's a faster route into a good job. For me anyway.

Also, I'm not sure I completely understood IP addressing, or wanted to do that for a living.

Yeah, they aren't accepting people automatically at this point, my daughter turned 18 and tried to sign up (against my recommendation, lol) and just got a "thanks for your information" kind of message with no followup.

I think some scattered people that applied a couple months ago eventually got emails to continue setting up their accounts, so maybe they're considering mturk to be "full" and adding workers in dribs and drabs when people drop off by attrition. Knowing them, it could be mostly a way of keeping their servers from getting overloaded and not wanting to spend more $$ on infrastructure more than anything.

That would be counter intuitive to me if they stopped letting new workers in because research is one of the biggest things on turk and if researchers knew the worker pool was stagnant they would probably not use it anymore.. wait.. hey that kind of explains the decline of research, maybe some researchers know something we don't.
