Hello everybody, I currently live in Oregon and trying to get the hang of mturk. I've done about 30 HIT's so far with 15 being approved and 15 still pending. So far so good.... I have one question if anybody might be able to help me. The type of HIT's I'm wondering about is "Search: Keywords on Google.com" It says to copy the link of the most relevant result. Does that necessarily mean the 1st result on page 1? I feel like there are more relevant sites that might fall into like say the 2nd 3rd 4th or 5th rankings on page 1. Also, I notice it says it wants you to highlight and copy the URL directly below where you click the hyperlink to join the site. Sometimes its not as simple as it being say like www.golfballs.com sometimes it won't show the full url, it will have a bunch of periods.... in the link and you can't copy that as it will result in an error when you try to go to that link. What should I do in those situations?? should I just copy the main part of the link? like say www.golfballs.com and leave off the rest, or go to the website and copy whats in the URL bar? Appreciate any help or tips I can get with this problem Thanks!
Well I should say its say a risky HIT..i usually avoid these kind of HIT's if the description given isn't appropriate and give me confidence about doing it...You should contact requester about how he want the work to be...hope this helps good luck !!!
Hi! I'm from Ory-gun too (Central). Just joined this forum after Turking for about a week now. Glad to meet another Oregonian!
Hello! And welcome to our Forum! There is a great place to post this question... Go to the Greatest HITs section and post your question under the thread "Can't Find Good HITs" or you can create a thread and post it under the General mTurk Forum. This forum here is primarily for people to introduce themselves so you won't get a lot of answers in here. Hope this helps! Rob PS> It is not a risky HIT. The requester is well known and always pays! I too have had the same question however. I feel it is the first listed as that would seem to be the most relevant. Others say to look through and find the one that matches the query best. In the example shown in the directions it does show one further down from the top if I remember correctly. But please post your question in one of the places I mentioned and you will get tons of responses.
Welcome, rek0nize! Agreed with RWStein. Also, I would suggest that you always state the requester name when you mention a HIT, so that people will pay more attention and provide answers more quickly. I think you're talking about CrowdSource here, for example. Happy Turking.
