Now I should start off by saying this is in no way a guaranteed method, this is the method that I use and it works fairly well for me. I am consistently above 90 and I believe if you follow these methods of grading that you will be ok :D

The magic number is 82, as long as your rating is at or above 82 you are making 1$ every 10 minutes, you should never be taking longer than 10 minutes to do 10 ratings, if you are I suggest you speed up.

I'm going to break it down by category for you guys.

    Substance.

1: Only use this option if you have to report the article.
2: Use if the article is a paragraph or less and jibberish.
    3: Article is 90% pictures.
4: I use this to rate some of the shorter articles.
5: Medium length articles with decent content.
6: What most articles fall under, although you must refrain from overusing 6.
7: Great length and subject matter.
8: Very long article with amazing content.
9&10: If this article blew you away with how fantastic it was, try not to use 10.

    Organization

1: Only if you have to report
    2: One paragraph articles
3: A few paragraphs, no headers.
4: A long article with no headers.
5: A medium article with great headers separating information.
6: Decent length, headers where appropriate.
7: Great length, amazing categories and subcategories.
8,9&10: Only use when substance is in this range, I've never given an article a 10 on organization. Organization usually falls one below substance although sometimes it is further behind. The only time organization is above substance is when substance was pulled down by grammar.

    Grammar

1: Had to report the article.
    2: Gibberish
3: Half proper, half gibberish(these are usually test articles)
4: Big mistakes but still readable.
5: Repeated some things but overall easily understandable.
6: Most articles lie here but you need to make sure to rate some lower and some higher.
    7: Couldn't find a grammar error.
8,9&10: I rate the same as the substance, if the substance was an 8, so is the grammar.

If the grammar is gibberish you need to rate the substance the same as the grammar, if the grammar is a 3, the substance should only be a 4 at best. Substance should never be more than 1 above grammar.

Follow these guidelines and I believe for the most part you will be ok. And don't fret if your rating drops. It can pick back up just as easily. The rookie mistake is to say OK i'm just going to do as many as i can before they block me. I can't stress enough how important it is to not do that. Regaining your rating is a very easy process.

The best time of day to do an article is early morning I've found, there are hundreds of real hits which makes it far less likely for you to get a test article, if you do hates after 1 pm est it appears that you become much more likely to get a test article thrown in with your articles. The reason we want to avoid test articles whenever possible is because this is an opinion based task and your opinion is not always the same as their so called "experts". I try to only do 100 hits a day, I find that if i do more than this than i start getting more test articles.

All in all I hope this helps some of you struggling and feel free to leave any questions below.

Here's a question...Where can you find your accuracy, other than the bonus emails they send you?

I've always wondered that myself. If you look at the qualification hit requirements it says you have to have some value less than 100 and mine is 179, so I assumed that maybe that was my accuracy too? Wouldnt surprise me, I suck at hubpages.

If thats not it, I have no clue.

I have a question, what is this? I am fairly new to mturk and I am still learning so much. Is this another area I could focus on that I am not aware of? Thanks.

Hubpages is a website where users are able to host articles which others are free to view. Your job would be to rate their articles based on several guidelines which are provided. The link above leads to a qualification test to be able to work on their HITs. For this test, you have to have a certain amount of accuracy as compared to the ratings which have been given these articles by the experts which work for Hubpages. If you pass (which many don't), you will be qualified to rate articles which have not been rated by the experts (besides the odd one thrown in to check your accuracy). You are given bonuses on every ten articles you write based on how accurate you are. If you decide to take the test, good luck and I hope everything goes well! Don't be afraid to ask questions anywhere on this forum. It's full of friendly and helpful people :)

I am taking the test right now. For what reasons do you report something? I am more than halfway through the test but one of these looks like it is right from a book and it is commercial and creative writing right at the top in kind of a commercial heading. I read through this all before I started the test but I must have missed this.

This is probably the fastest way to find it, but it's also on your qualifications page.

The test is a bit harder and for mine I didn't have to report any, but if you click the report button in the top left, it gives you a list of all the reasons for reporting an article.

I am just praying now. I finished the test and now I wait. They were telling me all along I was doing well. So now I wait to see how it goes. If I pass your post above helped me a lot. I really appreciate it. Do they pay you for the test no matter how you do on them?

That's unfortunate, the test is quite hard you have to be very accurate, this was more of a guide for after you pass the test. But they should have paid you anyways for the 15 you did.

They did pay me. I will find other things to do but I really liked this. I spent a lot of time on each question and they kept telling me I was doing well. Then they said it could go either way and then I was done.

Do you get penalized if you don't report articles? It says to report violence, adult content, spam, miscategorized, and articles not in English in the FAQ and obviously some of these should affect your score. But I did a ton and forgot to report ones that should have been reported, and they kept telling me I was doing great while my percentage was dropping, so I wonder if this has any affect...

Also, do you have any tips for creative writing? All of it seems so ... bad.

Thanks for the guide, though! Trying to get my rating up so I don't get blocked.

For creative writing, these are usually not used as test articles I've found and since it's an entirely opinionated matter, just rate them however you feel, the thing is just don't forget to mark them as creative :p also I can't know if you get penalized for not reporting as they don't tell you why they penalize you ^^ but I would just keep a look out for it henceforth, no harm reporting... it also makes the rating easier ;)

So are you automatically marking anything you report as "1" across the board?

Yes pretty much, most things that you would report are foreign language so you can't really grade it anyways.

One more for you, Kights, (and btw, thanks for this thread and the advice!)

Do you ever rate anything higher than you rate Substance on a Hub? I saw that you never put organization higher than substance, but what about grammar and structure? I guess I'm curious, because I have seen very short hubs that are probably 4-5's on substance but have impeccable grammar that's at least 6-worthy.
