I know the pay isn't great on these, but my laptop handles them better. Any suggestions from editors? Pet peeves for transcriptions?

Um, uh, and then, like, can we...is there a way...how do I say?

-_- Sorry. I've been cleaning a lot of stuff up today that looks like that. One the transcriber's notes even stated they'd read the style guide 10 times!

I don't have the right set-up or else I'd be grabbing transcriptions. I know it seems to be the same thing but it's a conflict with my laptop. The more I type While the audio plays, the slower it gets. With these "improve" jobs, I don't have to listen to the audio as much and much less typing.

I don't know what's causing the problem, but just in case it may be driver related, perhaps it might be worthwhile to find out if an update is available for your audio driver.

You can try the driver-update functionality in Windows, and also check to see if the laptop manufacturer's site may have newer drivers available. If the laptop manufacturer no longer provides driver downloads for your laptop, perhaps the chipset manufacturer might have an update available (check compatibility carefully before installing).

You may also want to update your anti-malware software and run a full scan to make sure that your system appears to be free of any known malware.

Caution: There are always some risks involved when installing new software and updating system software. Proceed at your own risk.

Caution: Before installing new software, back-up your system to separate media. It's always important to have an up-to-date backup in case anything goes wrong.

Caution: Get driver updates from trusted official manufacturer sources. Avoid third-party sites offering driver downloads.

It's the driver, you're right. I can't find an update easily (tried about 8 months ago) and...I know enough about computers to know IDK WTF I'm doing when it comes to stuff like that lol =/ Going out of town for a couple days but maybe when I come back I'll buck up and try.
