My name is Nick, I have been reading the forums for about a week now and thought I'd come in and actually register. I haven't begun turking yet, however I am looking forward to it. I am a systems administrator and I have some down time during the day. Usually I am studying or researching some new technology. I'd like to vary it up a bit and it seems like mTurk is the way to go. Stimulate the brain a bit with some tasks and maybe take home gas money for the month. Sounds like a win win!! I hope to add some value to these forums as well as learn!
I am still under review, its been a day or so. I am eagerly awaiting the email that says I am ready to go.
You're not alone, with being under review. As you can probably tell from reading some active threads, we don't know what the issue is. If you do find something out from Amazon, could you let us know so we could help others? In the meantime, there's lots to read for when you are ready to go =)
You might want to try twitter. Sounds strange, I know - but i've received responses from their twitter. One time they even credited my account with $25 for free...
Is there a direct account on twitter for mturk or just the @Amazon twitter account? I also saw some people using #Amazon, #crowdfunding and #CrowdSourcing hash tags. Not sure what would get more attention.
I think it's @amazonmturk Also, notice the last twitter posting was on the last day they were accepting accounts..
Interesting, although this is not the first lengthy gap in their tweets. (Just for example, they didn't tweet between May 17 and May 31.) FWIW they issued one more Blog post recently (on the 26th). http://mechanicalturk.typepad.com
