That feeling when you wake up in the morning to fine your hot water tank broken at the bottom and leaking boiling water into your basement. The extra realization that the ten year warranty ran out 3 days ago and then realizing you have 600$ for an emergency and a new tank+installation will run you around 800-1000$.

Thankfully(or not, I dunno) there is a very old drain system under the house since at one point the basement was a actually a horse barn. There's a minor 6 inch divet right in front to the water heater that draws all the water down that drain. Some boxes got wet and there was water everywhere in small puddles due to heat condensation from the hot water to the colder pipes, but nothing major. However cold showers are all but impossible at this time of year. Our cold water comes from the lake which is still currently cold enough to trigger hypothermia (it's 45F water) unlike later in the year where the cold water is a bit more tolerable( a tad below room temperature). I tried this morning and my hands and feet were entirely numb less than a few minutes in.
