Regarding TO, I definitely get the motive behind minimum wage or it's a 1 for pay. Unfortunately that leaves little guidance for the folks who probably need TO the most. 50 cents and hour and 5 dollars an hour look identical. So I've compromised a bit. It seems to me that if you are not getting 2 or 3 bucks an hour, you are doing something very wrong, so I see no need to distinguish between 50 cents and hour and 2 bucks an hour. They are all 1's. I allow a score of 2 for things around 4 or 5/hr, just to allow for a not-good-but-better-than-many rating. Of course it's rather academic because any rating I leave is averaged into oblivion by all the "awesome, only 3 minutes work for a nickel! 5/5" folks.
Did this yesterday, I liked it. Somewhat interesting and decent pay. It has approved already. Edit: there was an EPFL-MIT Moocs HIT a while back on learning styles of art, which may be why it sounds familiar?
I look at TO all the time because I want to know about mass rejections/hard blocks etc. I take the pay ratings with a grain of salt. Anything under minimum wage gets a 1 from me. I don't care how the requester feels about that seeing as they don't care how they feel about paying shit wages. OK, sometimes I'll give a 2 for under min. wage, but that's rare I'm in that generous of a mood.
