Probably nothing, just joking about a few years ago when they got hacked. I would assume they're just having load issues.
Anyone know anything about monitors? It is time to retire my trusty CRT monitor (or that is what I am telling it -- it may be a working retirement with hit scraper or something). Looking for something 24" or so and cheap. Emphasis on cheap. Most my games are relics, so I am not really worried about gaming performance. Someone said IPS has better colors, the better to categorize things with, so I am going with that for now, but I really know near nothing about monitors. Anyone see any reason to prefer one or the other of these? Or a reason both are appalling? Something missing I should be looking for? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236335 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824025100 Any help appreciated... thanks!
I have an Asus ips display and I love it. Never had an LG but both look like a pretty damn good deal. I paid $300 for my 24" ips display about s year ago. Good luck Only thing I will say is make sure you have a vga connection on the new monitor if you are connecting your crt monitor up currently like that. Or HDMI or dvi to HDMI etc
I've got the Asus VS228H-P, which I believe is very similar to the Asus you linked. I -think- the only difference between them is that the one you linked has built-in speakers and is bigger. The one I have also comes in 24" for roughly the same price. EDIT again: skimmed through too quickly reading your post and overlooked the IPS part. Still, the colors on the one I have have never seemed remotely bad and I am insanely picky about every minor detail. I can only speak with my experience on the VS228H-P, but I haven't had any complaints about it in the last year. Good color, decent viewing angles so that I've never had to worry about seeing that annoying foiling effect on the edges that you have to deal with on some LCD monitors. You will notice it if you're standing high above it or at a drastic angle, but during normal use it looks great. Only complaint is that it's 60hz and I have very sensitive eyes, and it's the only reason I ended up grabbing a 144hz monitor yesterday. I think if you go with either the one I linked or the Asus you linked, you can't go wrong. EDIT: Nevermind my 144hz suggestion, forgot the part about you wanting cheap and not playing recent games!
Good point, hadn't thought much about actually connecting it. Not a good idea to make assumptions about a 5 year old computer -- just dragged it out to see what connectors it has. I see VGA, DVI and HDMI back there, so it looks like I am good. Even have a never-used HDMI cable that came with one of Newegg's nonsensical "buy a hard drive and get a free HDMI cable" type specials. (You should see my TV set -- it makes the CRT monitor look modern -- but one upgrade at a time!) Thanks!
Thanks! Leaning towards the Asus I think. The worry about the colors is because I have an old laptop with an absolutely awful screen (I discovered just how bad when I once used it to order something blue. What I got was green. Was only when I checked on this computer that I saw it really was green in the picture.) Of course the contrast on this CRT is shot to hell -- I have hotkeys set up so I can switch between good-contrast-for-text and bright-enough-to-see-videos. And a middle setting for Virals that lets me see the video but leaves the bubbles visible enough to click. I can't tell you how much I am looking forwards to this monitor. lol Once I can see text and graphics properly at the same time I might even go all out and find an avatar for the forum.
Yeah, you'll definitely be satisfied! It might be a bit of a shock at first, though. I know when I first went from CRT to LCD, barely even 2 years ago now, it took a week or two for me to fully settle in with the settings I liked and get used to the difference. I think one thing you'll especially warm up to fast is 1080p vs whatever you had on the CRT. It's such a massive difference!
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00CB...er+monitor&dpPl=1&dpID=517ytCT1u2L&ref=plSrch This is a pretty good price for a 24 inch monitor and should get the job done I'm thinking of picking one up for a second monitor Nvm they sold out sorry
