I'm not a big fan of transcription. It's definitely a skill and it's definitely something you really have to work at in order to turn a tidy profit. If you can stomach it, I think that the video transcription work from SpeechInk isn't too bad. A lot of people get drawn in to Casting Words when they start here, I would recommend against them at first. It's not that I think they're a bad requester, it's just that having their qual gives you so many search results for Casting Words that it becomes annoying. Casting Words can be very profitable if you can work your way up to auto-accept and doing the express transcription HITs. That's a LOT of dedication. That's months of work. Do it only if you really want to invest in a proper set up, are a fast typist and willing to put up with their intensely subjective grading policy.
Also, about transcription, I DO encourage you or anyone to take it up anyway just to improve your skills and options. The thing with Mechanical Turk is that it's feast or famine. Hedging your bets with as many quals/opportunities as possible is how you make money. I made the mistake of being married to one requester and one qual for many months and when I was cut off I was totally lost.
I did all 5 of them in one setting. The first one is the longest but the others get better. I chose to do them all because at the end of each one you are given a code, if you don't write that code down you risk not being able to access the next one. Since papers tend to disappear in my house, I decided to do them all at once so I could copy and paste each code so I didn't risk losing it while waiting for them to approve since the auto approval is 2 weeks.
Why in the blue world all these requesters so crazy about Mountain Dew and Doritos code all of a sudden?
I'm guessing that they are collecting codes to earn a prize? Must be some sort of way to cheat the system.
I agree that CrowdSurf Support is good. Is that the one that only allows workers one attempt at the qual test? I think so, but I'm not sure.

OK. I have been asking for a few days now and maybe I'll find someone else who does them... but has anyone else noticed that the HubPages HITs are largely attention checks?
just because AA is 2 weeks, doesn't mean that they don't check the work. Every one I had done was approved within 12-24 hours. The hit even specified that if you do them all in one sitting, you are risking multiple rejections because if you got rejected on part 1, all of your parts will be rejected.
Personality Lab 1 took 33m. So the rest will be shorter? Edit: Also, half of us thankfully lost our hubpages qual. I wouldnt take it back if you paid me.

Im debating doing hit 2 in this series before I go to school so I have less to do later. But what if my 1 gets rejected? Or what if they run out? Ohnoes!
