Comcast: What? You want to use the speeds we are giving you? Oh well fuck you, then. We'll just charge you fucking double.
and their prices are so ridiculous to begin with compared to other countries a data cap would piss me off even more than before(which would have already been quite a bit) now that i'm racking in ~$50/week with perk
Yeah, 28mbs/5mbs here. It's pretty sad how bad the infrastructure is here in Seattle, relative to its status as a huge tech city. I could go a few miles to Redmond or Lynnwood and get real fiber, so there's zero reason it shouldn't be as good here, outside of pure greed. Guess that's what monopolies get you. But no, FCC, I'm sure Comcast getting even bigger and more non-competitive will totally turn out well. Keep up the good work.
Truth be told, could be worse. I was on WiFi that never got above 10 and stayed around 3 to 5 for the majority of my past few years until I said fuck it and ran ethernet. Might switch to 16/3 via their business class service here soon, though, which isn't amazing but it means no data caps so might be worth it. Still haven't decided.
I haven't heard anyone here say they're in a Google Fiber city, and I know if I was I'd be constantly bragging about that shit. Though I'd honestly maybe be a bit more interested in a municipal service like they have in Chatanooga, which isn't that far away from me.
https://www.mturk.com/mturk/preview...wdSource&hitId=3OE22WJIGIOVZOSA1X9R13W1VU7UQJ This is actually really good once you get it rolling. 1 and 2 select, enter submits the current choice. A lot of them have no swatch, so you can just churn through. Probably like .18c/minute when going well.
They're rolling it out here in Austin soon but not near me. The good thing is that some of the other providers are lowering their prices and increasing speeds. I'm stuck with TWC here though, not to mention when they merge with Comcast it could get worse.
OH! so thats why my internet speed got increased. i have TWC as well and i was a little suspect on their recent speed change. but thats great to know.
Basically run like a utility and owned by the local government (or in this case the electric utility which is owned by the local government). http://www.governing.com/cityaccelerator/blog/municipal-broadband-works.html http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs...attanooga-beat-google-fiber-by-half-a-decade/
