So you agree we shouldn't keep pandas from the previous day? I try to keep under 10 pandas running at once. I still get loads of PRE's sometimes, even if I slow PC down to 3, I think 53 yesterday.

I think that really depends on what you are doing and how you want to turk. I have certain requesters that I am looking for so I run those, but unless its a great hit I dont run it more than a day and some I dont run unless I catch it in the first hour or so. It really depends on the hits and requester. What I am saying is that the longer you run it the fewer errors you will get because it slows everything down, but all that means is that the intervals it is searching for hits is much longer. If you want to test this restart panda crazy and see how many errors you get initially and after an hour how many do you get. The fewer pandas you use the faster it can run. I saw someone post their pandas and it was like 20+ and with that many pandas its going to be running slow. Like I said before this is my understanding of it and if I am wrong please somebody correct me.

EDIT: Please do not interpret this as me knocking panda crazy, because I am not. Its probably the best thing going right now if you know how to use it, but you really have to understand how it works to make the best use of it. You cant just throw up 1000 pandas and expect to catch any.

I was just thinking about what @alk65 said this morning about getting some hits by retaining the previous day's pandas.

A surprising number of times, I've snagged excellent paying HITs from old pandas. It's a matter of guessing which HITs are likely to be reposted--and when. To succeed at this type of pandaing, you must be sensitive to a requester'd trends. I usually have a small handful that I think are possibles, that I run whenever I can--or don't have anything else better going. Like at night, or when I'm not attentive to the computer. Just make sure you listen for pandas squealing in the distance--or turn off the short timer ones. As for PREs, I don't worry it. Sometimes I can only run a few, other times a dozen. You play it by ear. The slower they run, the less likely you'll get a strike. But like fishing, sometimes you just hang the hook out there and hope the fish runs into it.....and eventually they will. Of course, if something good is out there to collect, I focus almost solely on that. So, I guess you can say I use both types of pandaing, depending on what I'm after and how it pays.

You have some talent I don't have. I don't know much about requesters' trends or when the might be reposted. Don't they all run on the same timer on PC?

I haven't tried PC yet, I'm still in the dark ages on TM, where you can adjust each panda individually. I usually run less likely pandas at a longer rate--unless I think it's a good opportunity or a likely catch, then I'll shorten the panda. As for tracking requester trends, that's a matter of experience--or noticing hints posted by others. Knowledge will make you free, or some such crap.

And just to annoy the only today panda-ers, I caught the 25.00 Brian Hotty HIT last week on a panda I had been running off and on for several weeks. I had noticed that he reposts early and late in the day and had been turning it on then. And bam! there it was. (I later returned the horrible thing, since I've been too sickly to be patient with it., but whatever...) Point: This HIT posted again this last morning--on the same panda.

What timer were you referring to, if not TM or PC? What are you using to see that requester X posts early and late in the day?

Back in the olden days we used to use things like page refreshers where you took a panda link and put it into a page and set the refresher. I have no idea if they are talking about that or not, but that is the old way of doing it.

CheckforChange was a popular Firefox one.

You can use Turk Master in the same way as a page refresher. It's just easier to use for a number of HITs at the same time. And it stores your pandas for later. I plan on installing PC pretty soon for it's unique uses, but I still like TM best. It suits me.
I simply notice the trends over time. I notice people's postings about requester traits. I notice when certain requesters post most often. I'm an old freak of nature--I take notes--with a pencil, yet. HA
