It's fine. I'm not usually so jaded , i'm super positive of a person. This has just been a shit week.

I fully understand people who don't trust the government to fix these problems, but lets also not pretend that it was a functional system that adequately worked to fit the needs of citizens before Obama...

When it comes down to it, the problem is that the current system was so entrenched that we had to have something like this as an "interim" step. The question is whether it sticks around long enough for us to refine it and get where we should be, or (if we get stuck with a Republican prez along with Senate/House anytime soon) it gets proclaimed a failure and totally scrapped.

 

Obamacare is a mixed bag, but at the end of the day I'm glad its there. I work for a small business that doesn't offer insurance, and my wife works part time. The fact that I can buy insurance on the open market is huge for me, and I am very glad to have that option.

 

Also depends on the state. Wouldn't let me file online (state) unless I attached proof of income. Oddly enough didn't want it if you filed by mail.

 

I like it better than the nothing that was there before it, and agree that it can definitely help in many situations.

But it still has some issues to fix, particular in terms of its inability to curb costs overall, and the way it shifts those costs to consumers.

Even if you aren't for single payer/medicare for all (which, really, anyone who has turk as a primary source of income would benefit....don't know what I'd do if I didn't have good employer insurance), I still think you'd want some ways to stop bullshit like the Shkrelis of the world, and start subsidizing working people on limited incomes instead of the very corporations and insurance companies that are over-charging us in the first place...
