I am a new turker and decided to try doing a couple redwood hits this morning. I did like 7 of them (2 different style hits). On my last hit, I got a message stating something about not being able to work on their hits. I could not understand as to why as I have been very careful with any hits I am doing. I looked at my account and they approved all of them. So, I went back to the Redwood hits and it states something about being blocked. Is this something that happens to a lot of people? I have searched the forums here and found a few references but nothing specific like my case. Thanks, Jen
Most of the time when you are blocked by a requester, Amazon will send you an email letting you know. Check your email and if you have no notice, check with Amazon. If in fact you were blocked by Redwood, just send an email asking why?
Redwood do block sometimes, but they use soft blocks so you won't have to worry about Amazon being notified.. Just means you won't be able to work for them anymore. If you email them, they'll reply and show you why you've been blocked.
Yep. Redwood hands out soft blocks and it's permanent. Amazon won't notify you since it's not a hard block. And there's no point in sending them emails asking them to lift the block. They'll simply just ignore. But the good news is you probably might have got the block only in 1 style hit. You can still work on the other type provided you maintain a high result quality from now on. Good luck. EDIT: They never rejects anyone. But have an internal scoring system that constantly monitors you.
Thanks much for the response. I might try writing them as I looked and I only did four of them. And, to immediately block seems odd. But, thank goodness they did not reject.
You know what happens when you don't ask? Nothing. Unless you are over Redwood and you don't mind the soft block, I would definitely email and ask. I've had a hard block removed just by emailing and asking.
That must have been a different requester. But it don't work that way with Redwood. I've never seen another requester who has implemented such levels of automation in their HITs as Redwood. They never bothers about the difficulties faced by workers and they don't give a damn about it. Instead, they are interested only in final result and work quality. Bertha, I was not trying to offend you or anything. I was only making my point. Redwood simply don't communicate. I know that from my experience.
I'm in the same boat you are there. I've e-mailed them to ask, but no response so far! Keep your head up!
They did respond to me when I had a similar issue.. But all they did was send me an email with a couple of links where I could "check" my mistakes.. but none of the links actually worked or went anywhere ;D Being unable to do their work is no loss anyway, their pay is too low..
I was doing the Redwood Transcribing that pays .03 cents each for less then 10 seconds. In the past weeks, they had thousands posted a day. Now it seems only in between 1 and 50 hits for them. Has anyone else noticed this?
me too i would rather he have rejected the wrong ones and told me what was wrong than to get the block
I got my block after my very first try. People say that it is probably for only one type of their hits, but I'm not going to try to find out. A "soft block" on several of their hits might result in a hard block, and it isn't worth it.
