I received a message today from Mturk that Survey Research had blocked me from working on their jobs.
I looked to see if they had rejected my work but their is no record of my ever working for them at all.
From the message it appears that Mturk regards a block as a response to low quality work but that didn't happen.
Why were they able to block me and is it possible to get it removed if there wasn't work rejected?
    Thank you.

They are going to reverse it.

    Here's their message from TO

I sincerely apologize for this. You are correct that our intention was to prevent duplicate responses, and we have no intention of harming the reputation of the workers we have blocked. I have written to Amazon to make that clear to them and am unblocking all workers immediately.

Your email prompted me to look into alternative solutions (including this forum thread). My team is not deeply technical, so we do not use the command line or API interfaces that allow requesters to specify reasons for blocks en masse. (Specifying a reason such as "preventing duplicate responses" would help prevent workers from being banned due to blocks.) My understanding is that, even if we did use this functionality, workers would still be notified of blocks with no context on the reason, causing undue worry.

Needless to say, I'm disappointed that AMT does not have an elegant solution off the shelf, but I am committed to finding a viable alternative. We will not use this method of preventing duplicate responses again.

Thank you for expressing your concern, and apologies, again, for the unneeded distress.

    Erin

Thank you for letting me know.
I think that it happened before when someone didn't know what to do to prevent people from doing the same job twice.
