Thanks for the response . About signing up I found no problem really . I live currently in Italy and didn't have any problems . Only problem is that many HITs require a US residence . Personally I am not looking for terrific amounts of money , if I could make around 300$ per month for 4 hours work per day i would be happy , if I could reach 500-600$ that would be optimal .

looks like you reached your limit of 100accepts a day. this is lifted after you succesfully managed to be active for 10 days on Mturk

edit: your $300/month are a reasonable goal with only 4hrs/day. just need some experience and qualifications. but with signing up to a community you are on a good way

    What is Panda?

Since this gets asked a lot...

    What is PandA?

PandA is an acronym for PreviewandAccept and the term comes from the URL manipulation that is needed in order to "panda" hits. By panda'ing hits, you can auto accept a hit without previewing it first. This is what a regular hit on mturk looks like when you're previewing it:

By adding "andaccept" inbetween "preview" and the question mark, the HIT link is now a "panda" link. Which looks like this:

What this means is that by refreshing that PandA link , the hit will be automatically accepted into your queue instead of you just previewing it. The HIT will be in your queue.

I just open other tabs on my desktop computer screen, and click on them when I want to view what's on that page. When I right click on a link, I select "open link in new tab" then I look at the top of my screen and see that tab, and click on it to see what's on that page. If I want to get back to the page I was on, I just click the tab for it. One can several tabs at the top of one's computer screen at any one time.

I panic about getting rejections all the time, so go out of my way to avoid getting rejections or getting too many. I don't want my approval rate to go down too much. Currently I'm on 1151 approved and 20 rejected - that's an approval rate of 98.3% and rejection rate of 1.7%. If there's either a hit or requester I'm not familiar with, even though the hit looks and is easy, and I feel all my answers are correct, and even if there are many hits to do in that particular hit and don't take long to do, I often just first do no more than 10 or so, then wait to see if they are all accepted before I do more of that type or for that requester. It's a difficult decision to make, though. I'm tempted to do many of those hits as quickly as possible, on the one hand, but on the other hand I'd rather be sure many would be approved. The decision is difficult for me because the requester may take ages to pay/approve etc, and by that time all the nice and quick and easy hits by him/her might be all gone. For example I was enjoying doing hits where I had to find a 2 second video clip of certain different simple activities, and did several, and there were many more than I could have done, but I didn't want to do any more until I was sure the requester would pay me/approve my hits, and while I waited (and am still waiting 14 days later) many of those hits, maybe all by now (I haven't checked) are gone.

When it comes down to it, I would rather risk not being able to do more of hits I like or find easy and quick because after waiting they're all gone, than risk my approval rate going down a lot. A good approval rate ensures I have more hits to choose from. I like to do a variety of different hits.

    Hi

I have 4 questions for now:

    1)
How do we know if the requesters of qualification tests are still around? There are very many qualifications one can request or do tests for. I'd guess that some of those qualifications are quite old, and I don't want to waste time doing some of the longer tests if the requesters who set those tests aren't even using Mehcanical Turk anymore.

    2)
What is the reason why Mechanical Turk can't pay mturk workers in other countries besides those in the U.S. via PayPal? An Amazon shopping voucher is handy, but money-in-hand would be better.

    3)
Is there any chance sometime in the future that Mehcanical Turk may start paying mturk workers other than those in the U.S. via PayPal? If so, when might that be?

    4)
Is there an automated approval system if requesters take too long to pay/approve/reject? if so, does this apply to ALL hits or only if the requester makes a setting to auto-approve if he/she fails to do so manually? Also if so, how long is it before those pending hits are auto-approved and paid?

    Thanks.

    Hi welcome back to mturk.

    1) Look for qualification tests that are currently up. Some surveys/batches require qualification tests before doing them. They can be found under their HITs by clicking request qualification and sometimes you would have to take a test to pass it.

2 & 3) Amazon is Paypal's competition and for that reason, I don't think Amazon is going to have Paypal as their payment. International workers can transfer their earnings to their bank now. It started few months ago.

    4) Each requester sets up their own automated approval. Some set it for anywhere from 1 hour to 30 days. It varies. Most of them will approve it manually before the auto approval time. Most of my HITs are approved around 2-3 days. It's rare that they go to 30 days. I haven't had that in a long time but it does happen. Approval time is different from paid time. Once it's approved, getting usually takes few hours before it shows "paid".

I was under the impression this newly granted bank transfer ability was just for workers in India. Am I mistaken?

Oh is it? You're right. I was thinking that because India workers can now, I assumed the others could. This is new for India workers, perhaps they will do that for other international workers in the future.

New Question: currently, is it only new workers from the U.S. who can join and do hits on mturk? I'm South African and joined a few years back but have only been active again for the past month or so. I wrote a blog post on my site encouraging other South Africans and anyone, really, to join, but I will need to edit that post if mturk is currently only accepting new workers from the U.S.

No they are not accepting any new workers outside of the U.S. It's closed now for only the US.

Okay. So I've been around for a while and just checking things out. I've been doing this for a couple of weeks and I was wondering if someone could explain this to me:
"Qualified to work on Transcription Tasks is not less than 900 your value: 780"

Where do they get this number from and how do I raise it? It was higher but I don't know what cause it to fall and how to fix it :/

I don't really do Crowdsurf, so maybe someone here has a better answer, but I would email them and ask! The best way to get through is to email support@crowdsurfwork.com with your mTurk ID, and they should be able to help. It looks like their qualification info might be a bit out of date, but they have an FAQ on their website as well!

sorry for late response, but betetr late than never.
the initial qual-score was 750. it is granted once you do the steps necessary to get the qual (reading guides, examole tasks and filling a profile on crowdsurf). when you work on their HITs you gain/loose points according to your work quality.

Is there ever a time period of inactivity where they may deactivate your account? I heard of some that say they been gone months if not years and was just wondering.
