Hello. I have been doing work for Mturk for almost a month with no problems. My husband also decided to sign up. He created a Mturk account and an Amazon payments account. The next day, he received this email:

    "Greetings from Amazon Payments.
We appreciate your use of Amazon Payments. Unfortunately, we have been unable to confirm your account information. This may be because you failed to respond to our past requests for more information or we could not confirm identity information provided by you.
In either case, we are now required to restrict your Amazon Payments account features.
We apologize for any resulting inconvenience and appreciate your understanding of our need to take this action.
Please sign in to your account and contact us should you have any questions about our need to take this action.
    - The Amazon Payments Team"

He immediately emailed them asking for clarification of the problem and received this response:

    "Hello,
Thank you for e-mailing us today, and I'm very sorry for the trouble with your account. I am writing to confirm that I have sent your information to an Amazon Payments Account Specialist. You should receive an e-mail response from them in the next 2-3 business days.
You may also email the Account Specialist Team directly at their email address payments-verification@amazon.com.
Again, I apologize for the inconvenience this may cause, but I hope this helps.
Thank you for using Amazon Payments.

The next morning, he received this message:

    Hello from Amazon Payments.
Unfortunately, we have been unable to confirm your account information which is required in order to utilize this service. We request you to open a new account with a verifiable residential address.
We regret we are unable to provide further information on this situation. Further correspondence regarding the restrictions of your Amazon Payments account may not be answered.
Thank you for your interest in Amazon Payments.
    Sincerely,
    Account Specialist

SO... Apparently the problem was our address, which makes no sense. I registered using the same address a few weeks ago with no problem at all. We have lived here for about a year and a half. None of the bills associated with this address are in my husband's name. Could that be the problem? We lived at our previous address for fifteen years but again, nothing in his name.

They suggest making a new account with a verifiable address but I'm not sure how that would work. How would he link it to his Mturk account? Isn't the account he already created linked to Mturk? How does he change that? We can use our previous address, as my father owns the home and it is vacant, but how do we know if that address is verifiable?

I'm sorry for all the questions, but we really need this to work. My husband is in the process of trying to get on disability. Right now we are surviving on income from my part-time job and my Mturk earnings, so we really need for him to be able to do this also.

Thanks in advance for any advice you can give.:help:

Don't make a new account, that's probably a bad idea, even if they say to do it in the email. Have you called them? It's much better than email for getting issues fixed.

Yes. He had them call him using the "Request a Call" button on their website. They called immediately and said they were forwarding his case to an Account Specialist. Then the next morning, we got the email from the Account Specialist saying to create a new account.

We'll see. He opens a new account, the system automatically locks him out because he has two accounts. In spite of what the "Account Specialist" says. Then a form letter email is automatically generated and sent saying it's over. That no one there knows anything and can tell you nothing.

They didn't suggest creating a new Mturk account, just an Amazon Payments account. Is there any way to change the payment account linked to your Mturk account? I am so confused!!

Make sure that you use whatever his legal address is when he signs up. I believe they match it up with your social security number. I had the same issue when I first signed up. I had moved a month before and signed up with my new address but they couldn't verify my info because my legal address was at my old home. Once I legally changed my address to my new one I resubmitted my info and had no issues.

Not sure if that exactly answers your question or not but it's the only thing I can think of.

I'm going to link you to reddit, I had this problem for awhile. Mturk verified me while Amazon Payments did not. I called everyday and got a bit snappy. The problem was fixed as soon as I emailed them telling them if Mturk could verify me, so could Amazon Payments, and that I would send a photocopy of my ID. I also signed up for a credit card (even if you get rejected it puts you in their system) and then bam, fixed 24 hours later.

Turkaturka is right, sometimes the address linked to your social might be different from your current. Especially if you moved which you did a year or so ago. This issue can also arise if your drivers license has an address different from your current etc. Be persistent with them and if possible email them a copy of your drivers license and a utility bill etc. Good luck.

I had this same issue come up in the last few days. I was asked to verify my information with Amazon Payments in order to keep the account working. I did and received an email saying it could not be verified. I did it again, made sure all the info was accurate and again it failed. I tried a third time and they locked the account. I read the forums here and contacted the payments office. After a bit of repeat calls I ended up with a fax number for the payments office and an email address to send paperwork to. I faxed and emailed them letting them know the issue and attached my drivers license, marriage certificate (just in case my recent marriage might be it even though the dl and name on the social security card was updated), a utility bill and the screen shot of Mturk showing where they had verified my tax information.
I haven't heard back yet, but I work nights. I sent everything by fax and email around 2am cst. I don't expect to hear anything until later today. Hopefully this works and gets it all taken care of. I covered the name change issue by sending the marriage license, drivers license and utility bill. I covered the address with all of that and the screen shot. I just don't know what more I can do.
