99% Approval Rating, Requirement Value 98?

Discussion in 'General' started by cattcali209, Oct 20, 2012.

  1. When I first started Turking, I wasn't aware that there were scammers, and I ended up getting screwed by a mass rejector. For the last several months, I've been busting my ass trying to get my approval rating up. Two days ago, my approval rating was officially 99%, but I still can't do HITs that require at least 99% because it says my value is still 98.

Does anyone know, do I need 99.1% or does it just take a while for that number to change? I'm missing out on a lot of good HITs because of it and it's driving me crazy!

Thanks to anyone that can help.

Hey, cattcali...you say "officially," which implies that MTurk does show you as being 99, like on your Dashboard? Otherwise, if you mean, say, your calculator shows that your rejection percentage is 99%, then it's not really official, just...mathematical, I guess.

I do believe that MTurk has little delays in processing official info about your percentages. That's happened to me before, too, that I supposedly didn't qualify for HITs that required 99% approval, even though my percentage has been there for most of my short MTurk career. It happened a couple times after a rejection had just posted---as if the MTurk system was still busy thinking about whether or not I was truly above 99%, even though mathematically, I was.

I'd just give it a day and see. :)

  3. yea it will most likely have to say 99.1%..

  4. Thanks for the answers guys. I emailed Amazon and they told me that in their system I'm still at 98.9%, so I guess it isn't officially 99% yet.

It just dawned on me that the rating on the dashboard might actually be rounding up. It's possible that my rating is actually 98.95%. Guess I'm just gonna have to keep plugging away at the batch HITs.

  5. I don't know why I didn't do this before, but I just did the math myself and my percentage is actually 98.98. So that's solved lol.
