Really frustrated right now. Just got back from my daughters basketball game. As the coach of her team, I try my best to teach them fair play and the basics on how to move the ball. I have a ton of new players that haven't played before so basics is where it needs to start. We were double team covering their best player for the entire game, because I know her and it really pisses her off when it happens and I was using that to my teams advantage. We kept her down and she didn't really get as many shots as she was used to. We were pressing on defense and my daughter and another girl were covering her. She backed her ass into my daughter and stepped on her foot. She twisted her leg and she slammed her knee into the floor. She crumpled up and cried out. The ref and I carried her off the court. I was pissed. I started yelling for the call and I was told that she was running a reverse pick and it was perfectly legal. My girls don't even know what a reverse pick is. I am torn between being a father and being a coach at this point. I start screaming at the ref that he better make the call or start calling a better game. I am threatened with a technical foul at this point and my assistant holds me back. I look over and and see my daughter and the seven other girls on the team comforting her and I ask her if she was ok. she said yes and I instantly hear one of my bigger, more aggressive girls ask if they can go out for her. After her, I had six other girls want revenge. I put my five biggest and best out there. One was one foul away from getting kicked out and we amassed an additional three fouls afterwards. We took the loss, but we made them fight for it. We get home, my daughter has a huge bruise and limped off to bed. All this for a 3rd and 4th grade league... Edit: If I don't reply right away, its cause I am fixing dinner and needed to get this off my chest. Trying to cool off, sometimes you just need to vent.

Thanks. Not sure if it is just bruised and swollen or worse. She was able to move on it fairly well after it happened, but after sitting at home for a bit, it started really getting to her. Keeping an eye on it and see where it goes is all we can do.

Honestly, I told them it would be a tough game. They knew it going in, but I had no idea how tough. Afterwards, my daughters best friend said and I quote, "I wanted to knock her on her butt and throw a baseball to her face." I asked her why? "Cause she hurt my friend." Can't ask for more caring words...
You sound like my cousin when he sees his daughter play. It's basketball, not checkers. It gets physical. There will be cheap shots, dirty hits, hits on accident, etc. If a knee bruise bothered you that much, you might want to sign her up for another sport.
