Probably just some BS to block you for no reason. They've ignored my replies too. How much money did you have saved up and/or pending, just out of curiosity?

I Wonder if you didn't get hacked into. Just look at the following sentence. Every email I have gotten from Mturk has been very professional. This one is not as pro as they usually are.

Should have you have problems accessing that account please contact us back from the email address of that account and we'll be happy to help.

I was having similar thoughts about hacking and just trying to get them organized so I didn't come off as some conspiracy wingnut. Amazon is one of the easier (and favourite) sites to hack according to Wired magazine. It seems like its too much of a coincidence that 3 people on a small discussion forum like this would be shut down on the same day for seemingly mysterious reasons.

I haven't quite figured out the method, but if somebody gained enough personal information like an Amazon account id and credit card, they could impersonate the worker and create additional fake accounts. Remember that hackers do what they do for bragging rights, not always for financial gain. That might suggest that someone is lurking these forums, so be careful who you reveal any personal information to.

Belligerent - Not much. Probably $10 in there

Meister & true - Trust me, I've thought of that. But then again, I think everything is conspiracy. At least I'm not the only one who has thought of this.

Stay tuned for Amazon's most ridiculous email replies YET. They are absolutely unreal. I'm about to post them in next msg

I responded to Amazon re: the email I posted the other day. I explained everything to them - mainly that I'm worried about identity theft/fraud since rest assured I have no other account. Check out the reply.

    Hello

I have checked your account and confirmed that the account was suspended on 6th September.

Your case has been forwarded to our suspension research team to review the suspension decision.

We will follow up with you only in the event that your suspension is reversed and your Amazon Mechanical Turk account is reopened.

If you do not hear back from us, this will indicate that the suspension decision is final.

    Thank you for your understanding.

    Best regards,

What kind of reply is that?! Obviously, I know my account was suspended. They didn't even address ONE valid issue.

I replied to that email (professionally and calmly) and said I knew that information already, and that what I'm trying to find out is who has access to this so called "primary account". Get ready.... here's the reply I just got.

    Hello,

Your Amazon Mechanical Turk account was closed due to a violation of our Participation Agreement and cannot be reopened.

Any funds that were remaining on the account are forfeited, and we will not be able to provide any additional insight or action.

You may review the Participation Agreement/Conditions of Use at this URL:

Thank you for trying Amazon Mechanical Turk.

I know my messages here are lengthy, but I'm providing this info to other Turkers as caution. I don't want anyone to go through what I've been through this week.
I did call Amazon yesterday (I know they have nothing to do with MTurk) regarding the security issue. They were unable to help me.
After these emails, I called again. Got a great rep. He could see all my emails, and all the responses and agreed with me that none of my concerns are being addressed. He put me on hold for a long time to go talk with his manager on how to escalate an issue to Mturk.

What they are doing now is sending over copies of all my emails & MTurks replies to an Mturk accounts specialist who deals with fraud type issues. I'll update when I hear back

I wish I didn't believe it was sheer luck that you happened upon a rep willing and able to try to help. But I do.

    Fingers crossed for you.

Thank you! And I feel the same. Getting a good rep is (unfortunately) about as rare as........ umm... something really rare. (hahah lost my train of thought mid sentence. I swear I had a really good one!)

Is it even possible to make enough money to justify the time used?

Only if you've got no other options.
