Claritrans. Hope for the best.
ClariTrans is a good requester. Just be sure to follow their guidelines.
It was approved with a 4.
A 4 is their best rating. They have a scale of 1 to 4, with 3 and 4 being acceptable without rejection. 4 is the highest, although sometimes 5 is given as well. A 5 doesn’t indicate that you did well, though— it indicates that your transcript didn’t go through their regular grading and was approved anyway. The reason for this is only known to Claritrans.
Congratulations! Sounds like your transcription work is going nicely.
Hm, no wonder this sounded familiar...
Hate to say it, but this is a direct quote lifted from my book---I'm looking at it in the book's Chapter 6 right now. Exact words and everything. I don't mind people mentioning snippets here and there, but please credit me when you are using my words and not your own. Thanks.
Glad to see folks benefiting from it, though!
I had one rejected the other day that I'm pretty sure was unfair. I've returned any that I have any doubts about at all. Haven't done any since then.
Sorry to hear it. Did you try contacting them?
No, it was only for 3 cents.
I like Claritrans, have done maybe 500 or so for them ( maybe 2 rejects?) but usually just the 5-10 second ones. I don't transcribe enough to tackle the longer ones. I don't auto accept, and make sure it is a clear recording before I accept. After a while you will get familiar with a certain voice and know at the first sounds whether to accept or skip. Anything I am uncertain about, I skip or return.
Up to you. But there's a reason I recommend against Claritrans. If they've rejected you once already, but you want to keep working for them, it might be best for you to try communicating and see how responsive they are to you.
Please guide the way of how you transcibe ...it seems to take much long time and even sometimes some words aren't spoken properly and then we can't make of what the person is speaking..So please tell me the procedure or the technique of which you use while transcribing them,...It would be great help..
Well, I must say that though this post is a copy paste but the information is still outdated. I mean, there is no rating of 5, as such. It used to be when the company was new( in 2010 or something) but not any more. I say this with the testimony of a reply I got when I emailed the requester with the question of no rating on some HITs. He answered, "no score is also a 4." I have mentioned this in a few of my posts. No rating also means that no editing is required.
Actually, they were still giving out 5's this past summer.
By the way, considering some of the changes lately (most noteworthily, that Crowdsurf is now on the scene but is basically Claritrans for video), I'm planning a second edition for release by spring. I'm still expecting to put in the information about 5's, though---just in case someone gets one, I feel people should know. (Of course, the second edition will be free for all existing owners, through Amazon.)
I've gotten one 5. The reason I didn't contact them is that I've seen reviews that say that they aren't likely to go back and check, even assuming that they can.
I've also gotten 5s but many of them are just 'Thanks' without a score. I guess both of them are one and the same, unrated transcript. What Dreamtime312 said is the best explanation anyone can give on this.
Psst, abrahamrohithroy...you mean what Dreamtime said, which was actually, word for word, lifted from my book but not acknowledged as such? (I said that above; yeah, I find it annoying to have other people pretend my words are their own.)
Clearly, though, there' s nothing outdated about the info on 5 ratings from Claritrans.
Aw, that's why they sounded so familiar. Couldn't recall where I'd read that. My bad. So this is what the previous posts said about Dreamtime copying the info. It all makes sense now.
Yeah, I quoted Naturegirl's book and forgot to cite it and I deserve the whipping. I really intended to go back and edit that post but got busy swapping computers when my laptop died the other day. That was fucked of me and I am so sorry!
Just to let you all know, Amy's book is a great, well-written, and well-researched book all about transcribing on AMT. It was my bible when I first started. I still refer to it every single day. I recommend the book to everyone I talk to who is interested in what I'm doing on AMT. Hopefully my screw up will be mitigated when everyone I have recommended the book to buys a copy from ya.
So, Amy's book is where I got the information about Claritrans' rating scale of 1 to 5. Have never personally seen a 5 from them, but I trust what Amy researched and wrote in her book is true. Thank you Amy for that wonderful resource!
if you shoot them an email and ask why it was rejected they will send you a copy of what you wrote and a copy of what the reviewer wrote.
Hello guys, let me prove myself right. And naturegirl, since you're getting a second edition written, this could be helpful to you. I emailed the requester again and will quote the conversation here.
"Hello James, do you still give out 5 grading where the transcript is not reviewed? Some of my friends are confused. Though I have never received a 5 grading on any transcript."
This was the question that I asked him. And this was his reply,
"Vastal, thanks for your question. There is no 5 grading. If you receive a Thanks (with no score) the score for that HIT is 4."
I hope I have clarified everything here that all the transcripts are graded. They have discontinued the earlier system of giving out 5's.
