Account Hack + Alterations + Robbery

    Dear fellow forum members...I was on a 3 day holiday trip to one of the places with my friends starting from September 21st till today.At that time i had 150$ in my current balance account.To my big shock today after i had returned home when i logged in automatically thru the mturk dashboard i saw my dashboard showing the script of my current account balance on 0.00$.Then i decided to check my mail box and surprisingly i saw two mails one which showed that my email address associated with the amazon account has been changed and the other showed that my 150.84$ balance has been transferred to as gift certificate.

    Then when i tried using the account after signing out it showed that my email address never exists on their records.I felt completely busted seeing this.Nothing like this ever happened with any of my accounts online:(

    I immediately had a live chat with one of the mturk support representatives regarding this.He/she told me that they filed and forwarded this issue to the Account Setting department of Mturk and they would contact me in a few time with the assurance that i would be getting evrything reverted back including the money i've lost.
    Eagerly looking forward to receivin their mails.Hope everything works out fine.

    Is there any security measure u guys cud advice me to keep my accounts safe?? I usually do not sign out while i am away.May be some virus made me prone to cyber attack.Have ya prayers for me guys.I wish i strted turking as normal as it used to be.

    Wow. Hopefully you get that straightened out. Could it have been someone you personally know? Definitely run some scans on your computer to see if a keylogger is installed or a rootkit. Wish you luck.

    On my enquiry to the customer service representative, i was told that right now such an account under the email biglerdoris@gmail.com doesnt exist.

    Yep 2muchturking....Hope Mturk finds out what happened and gets my account back...Waiting for the mail

    What the F? This is unbelievable!! I hope mturk gets this straightened out soon, and you are able to access the account. Probably some keyloggers were installed on the system, which tracked out the passwords. I would advise you to do a through scan with a good anti-virus software and always keep your anti-virus active and updated.

    As a matter of fact, even I do not logout of my Amazon account, but after seeing this, it would be advisable to always log out.

    I don't understand the above, if they changed the email address, the email should be there in the records. Did they cancel the account? I hope not!!

    But this whole thing has sent a tremor-wave around me, just goes to show there are a lot of people snooping around mturk.

    i also got email from mturk to reset my password i dont know why they send me that

    Thats what amuses me ....First thing is on my first login today i directly reached my dashboard to see the changes.and when i logged out the email already presnt which i saw was something a different one from biglerdoris@gmail.comSomething like cynthia or something.

    I see ppl here complaining about not being able to send mail to customer service with notification "Message sending error" which even i experienced it today.And then i had a chat with them in a method where we neednt sign in using the Skip sign in process.

    I fear itf it some error produced in their system...I will anyway give a clean virus check on my system !!

    Its quite possible that somethings amiss with their system, else the error at Contact Us page would not last that long. And Live Chat??? Never knew they started Live Chat, whats the link? Seems like they started this as email support went down? I am not sure.

    Let me make a guess...

    As we all know, now a days it's hard as hell, to get a new MTurk account.

    May be, someone failing to set up a new account, tried to take over your's, and requested for a change in email id, so that he can use it.

    Well to have the live chat ...i click on the contact us link without signing in...Being the fact i cant anyways login...then they will ask your email and password..there you can see an option to skip sign in...Then u will be forwarded to a page where u can email, phone call or live chat with a representative

    It sucks reading this. I'm sorry it's happened.

    - Don't let your browser store your passwords for anything that has to do with money.

    - Use a unique password for anything that has to do with money. Bank account, PayPal, Amazon-related (are all connected, so have to be the same for payments account, login, mturk), affiliate programs - anything money-related should have its own unique 8-16 character password. In general, it isn't a good idea to have the same password for any two logins, especially if it has to do with money or an email account.

    - Log out when leaving, especially if it will be for days.

    - Keep your anti-virus software running and up-to-date.

    I hope you're able to get your account back. I suspect the same as another - you're in India with an account that's in very good standing, with good stats. I do believe you were targeted.

    edited to add: If you use a similar password for other accounts - and have ruled out a keylogger - it would be a good idea to change them.

    Yep to hell with em....This ones got me really frustrated now...Cant access account as well as the fear of having lost 150.84$ from my current account is killing me :(

    Yep whimsy i gotaa be more careful in dealing with accounts handling money and their password care gota be made much more efficient.I have never had any problem with other money thingys like internet banking, paypal and lodza other stuffs...This ones happened for first time ...

    Well i wish it all ends well in the end and i wud seriusly love to see the person whose done this behind the bars...May be not possible but atleast getting my account and money back will give me a big sigh of relief...Thats for sure

    but when I am clicking the contact us link without signing in, I am getting the same page through which we contact them. No skip option or live chatting option.
