Is it because you're saving up for Christmas presents? Is this your only source of income? Stay at home parent? Need cash for school? Share with us what your motive is and why you turk! :D

I'm an unemployed student. I could scrape by without mTurk, but the extra cash each week is a godsend.

Christmas presents is close enough, though I'm going to need to do a lot better for even that to work.

Mturk pays more money than a full time job.

Adding to savings account. Originally I was going to get Amazon gc's but decided I could do without more things and take the cash.

I turk so that I'm (hopefully) debt free by the time I finish grad school. Half of my MTurk money goes to student loans and the other half goes to my credit card!

I have a chronic illness which makes it very hard for me to do anything for more than about 30 minutes. After that I need to lie down. Turking is ideal for me because I can do it while reclining and only choose the HITS I have energy to do. I'm actually really grateful for the sense of accomplishment it gives me to earn a little bit of money at my own pace.

I am just making the bills with my current job, turking is going to be a nice little cushion for those months when I need to cover an unexpected expense. My plan is to turk every day, a little or alot and just let the money accumulate til I need it.

I an unemployed. My SO is retired military, so all we have is his pension. I have two daughters and no prospects. I am doing this for a living and I'm very grateful for it. Sometimes amazon puts food on the table which otherwise wouldn't be there and for that I am willing to spend 10 hours a day doing those godforsaken taggered hits! lol

I didn't think I would stick with it when I started, considering all I'd heard was that you could only make pennies a day. Looking back, that info was obviously coming from people who hadn't figured out any good ways to approach it, so once I found some good ones of my own, I stayed!

I'm guessing it depends a lot on the country one lives in.

Although actually, since I got one specific qual, I can see that just working on the HITs for it will make more than some US full-time jobs. Still, like I said, I don't want to put all my eggs in with it, so...I'm being careful not to.

I make close to $1000 a month on speechink verbatim hits only. I don't touch any other hits because I don't trust those requesters and with the current state of things for indian turkers, I can't afford a single reject. $1000 a month is like Rs50000 a month, which is a comfortable income in India but I believe that Americans need to make at least $4000 or something to have a comfortable life.

I have a job offer waiting for me for a research company, but they are on a temporary hiring hold till the end of the quarter... so I kind of have to turk to get by for the time being. I'm also using the money I make to by my family's christmas gifts! :)
