I just got this email today:
    "Dear Worker,

Based on worker feedback, we have redesigned our quality control system.
In the new system, we use qualifications to determine whether workers meet the quality bar for our tasks instead of blocking them.
As a result, we are unblocking you. We have notified Amazon about this so they can take the appropriate action.
We apologize for any inconvenience this might have caused you. Please let us know if you have any questions.

    Sincerely,

    ProductRnR"

Anybody else get this email? I had done about 100 of their hits way back when they we're new, got paid for all of them, then was subsequently blocked.

    Weird...

Yep I got the exact same mail

Looks like new turkers will have to get their harsh first lesson about bad requesters elsewhere now :]

  3. I got this email and have been wondering... Should I do some RnR HITs again? :p

I'm going to when I get some extra time tonight if they're still up. I have a feeling they will be because of the bad rap they've gotten.

Just don't do any more than you can afford to have rejected.

That’s probably as close to a mea culpa as you are going to get.

  6. I still would not touch them.. I think they realize word got out to them how nobody will do their hits and nobody did the work.. they were desperate so pulled this stunt and unblocked everyone. I think it is great because people did not deserve the blocks.. but it is foolish to think they would not do it again. Even if they wouldn't, the fact that there QC system was so out of whack is another red flag to stay away.

  7. Totally agree 110%

I'm relieved the block is removed because it's the only one I've ever gotten.. but I will never touch another one of their HITs. They'd have to pay an absurd amount of money for me to even CONSIDER it.

they approved all of mine and paid within a day of my doing them (before I knew they were bad).

I got that same email but since I really can't afford mass rejection, I am going to wait and see.

  9. that is there trick.. they approve and pay the first few times, then once they see they gain your trust they mass reject and give a hard block.. until i see MANY positive reviews I will not touch them... mass rejections should not be the concern.. I mean yeah they suck but a hard block is even worse :(

The thing is, they can't keep doing this in perpetuity. If they try it again no one will ever work for them ever and they'll be missing out on a massive work force.

  11. Not necessarily. There will always be new workers who do not use TO to check ratings or who don't read the proper forum threads and do their homework on the requesters. They will always be able to keep this up.

That wasn't true for everyone. I did hundreds of their HITs during my first month of turking and only received maybe 4 rejections from them. It may have been the HIT I chose to do, but it paid me 10 cents a minute when I was at a computer that was fast. They're scary and probably do suck balls - but I was never mass rejected or blocked. I'm in the minority, I know.

I think ProductRnR is in trouble. There is no one to do his hits. I got this unblock email 2 weeks back, but i was not brave enough to work on his hits.
But today i got another email from him, like this

    Dear Worker,

Based on worker feedback, we have redesigned our quality control system.
In the new system, we use qualifications to determine whether workers meet the quality bar for our tasks instead of blocking them.
We hope this systems helps us develop a better relationship with workers such as yourself while maintaining task quality.
Thank you for working on our Tasks in the past and we look forward to continuing to work with you.

Please let us know if you have any feedback or further questions.

    Sincerely,

    ProductRnR

  14. ^^ ^^ Thank you for the heads up.

Curious to see how this plays out. I'm definitely not going to do any of their hits until I see a ton of positive feedback!

This isn't the first time they've screwed workers. I wouldn't touch them if that's all the work that was available on mTurk.

  17. If they post those .01 HITs choosing the better picture i'll do some more. I got a lot of cushion. 99.9% with 27k HITs.
