All Indians are getting this silly checks instead of Bank Direct Deposit except Americans. We need to do something about it. All Indian turkers must unite through this forum and through this post to persuade Mturk to start Bank Direct Deposit facility for Indians also like they have for Americans. We can do this, by contacting Amazon customer support everyday and requesting them to start this facility. All Indian turkers need to unite and work as a team to get this completed because Mturk is lending a deaf ear. Let us unite through this thread and also suggest your idea about persuading Mturk to start this facility. If even 100 Indian turkers contact Mturk customer support everyday, then they will take this issue seriously and within a few months we can see results. Post your support and suggestions in this thread.

Does anyone know why Indian Turkers aren't eligible for a direct electronic deposit of their funds? To my mind, it'd be less expensive (and let's face it, less risky; India Post is not well-regarded for their speed or the honesty of their employees). I'm thinking it's either Indian laws or American laws that're causing this, because paper checks are so mid-twentieth century.

Chuck, maybe the issue could be due to the large number of Indian turkers due to which they might be finding checks cheaper than direct deposit. If that's the case then it should be an opt-in service. Those who want checks can continue receiving their checks and thos who want Bank Direct deposit can opt for it and also pay a fee if Mturk wants it. I don't have an issue like paying upto $5 dollars for a Bank Direct Deposit.

It's an appeal to all Indian turkers to support this cause by asking their fellow turkers to do the same and also share your opinion and suggestion here on how to get this work completed.

Munawar, there are online payment services like Local Funds transfer (LFT) and also Skrill which are not owned by Ebay. LFT is the preferred payment system in ODesk and other freelancing sites. I want Mturk to start LFT for turkers.

One big truth is Amazon and Mturk rarely has ears to the suggestions of international workers or vendors associated with their system

I will really welcome if amazon pays our money through Direct Deposit. But like munna said amazon will rarely respond to international workers requests. My support to this post and am also sending a message to mturk customer support regarding Direct deposit.

Thanks for the support spider. I'm not saying that Mturk will accept our request in a day but we need to try and ask all our friends who have an mturk account to do the same. If we all request Mturk on a daily basis for this service then they will at least take this matter into consideration. We can at least expect to see the results of our efforts in a few months. It's better than doing nothing at all about the issue.

Friends, when contacting Amazon/Mturk, please request them to at least make it an opt-in service, so that those who want Bank direct deposit can avail it and those who are happy receiving their checks can continue to do so.

Regarding starting a Direct Bank Deposit system for Indian workers, it won't be possible due to certain provisions of the U.S. Patriot Act which imposes limitations on fund transfers abroad.
At least they have a check system only for India.(no other country has this)
If Mturk does start payments through Skrill or other fund payment systems, they would have done it for all their workers around the world a long time ago.
The fact that they haven't, is an indication that they're not too interested in doing so.

Mturk is not the only freelancing site in the world. There are other much better freelancing websites like ODesk, Vworker, Elance etc which do not have any issue with Bank Direct Deposit for Indians though they are also a US company and have a much bigger revenue base than Mturk. Most of their workers are from India but they manage the company from US. So there is no legal issue in part of Mturk. There must be some other reason which I'm not sure of like the increasing number of Mturk scams or something else due to which Mturk doesn't have a Bank Direct deposit scheme for indians. There are some turkers who make less than like $20 a week, which makes Banks direct deposit costly for them. So it should be an opt-in service, those who want it can pay a fee of at most $5 and get money directly in their bank account.

I think amazon is trying to concentrate mturk on US only. They are not allowing new international mturk sign ups. I fear that they will slowly suspend Indian accounts blaming quality of work. There is a chance..
