You need to click on "Private Message" and this will take you to a form. Type in "spamgirl" as the recipient and send your message. All forums usually have the same method.

I don't know how much she can help because if MTurk says you have violated some TOS, then it can get difficult. If you can write articles there are many sites where you can find work. The easiest is reviewstream.com you get $2.5 for writing reviews.

Nisha ... both forums have had trouble with spammers posting all kind of crap. Maybe, that's why you're having trouble registering at the other forum.

You can check out work at shorttask .... I think it is something similar to MTurk. I don't know for sure, though.
Do as Tiger has suggested, spamgirl will help you. Go through a thread regarding TOS here. It will give you some idea about what kind of HITs should be avoided.

    Hi Tiger,

I searched but couldn't find it .... seems like I was mistaken, it must be a reply to some thread here. I remember it was posted by Ergo.
You can check this thread, it isn't the same, but it sheds some light on what to avoid:

Thank you Sonica, that is interesting.

I wonder why they can't lay out the violations for workers in as much detail? Or is it somewhere written where I haven't looked yet? I have read the participation agreement and apart from "don't use bots or scripts" it doesn't tell me much about what I'm allowed to do and what not. I have been reading here and in the other forum of workers who's account was suspended, apparently for violating the TOS, but they all have no clue what they did to be punished so harshly, just like Nisha here. And MTurk isn't telling them either. It's just a very weird and rude way of dealing with people, not at all fitting for a 21st century business, and it leaves many workers tense and wondering whether they do everything right according to their mysterious terms, or not.

I don't remember all items posted under the 'not to do' list. But some of which I recall are:

    1. No twitter hits - follow on twitter
    2. No social bookmarking ones which ask to digg or stumble ...
    3. No hits which require you to vote or register at sites
    4. No click-through .... increasing traffic to a site from Mturk
    5. No captcha hits

Thank you Sonica! And where did you see this list? These things are definitely not mentioned in the participation agreement.

Well, I have done some of these ... am I in danger now, I wonder, to be suspended too? I don't understand why MTurk isn't putting up such a list for everybody to find easily  It just seems so unfair to suspend someone's account wihtout having given that person the rules beforehand.

Tiger, you'll be amazed at the number of PMs I get regarding help with account suspensions or accounts terminated at MTurk. Half of them claim they never worked for a requester and still got banned.

I don't know what's happening at MTurk. Is it a glitch in their system or whether the workers are at fault?
Regarding that thread, I searched but couldn't find it. All I remember is Ergo had posted it sometime around June-July last year. I too was ignorant till he pointed out which HITs violated the TOS.

It would be great if MTurk put up a list of tasks which were against their TOS. But no point hoping for the impossible, I see all those bookmarking, twitter ..... HITs getting posted daily, without fail.

Yeah, it's sad. And the requesters can happily open a new account under a new name - but we can't! It's like jailing only the drug users, but not the drug lords  Doesn't make any sense.

Somewhere on the other forum I read that requesters open a new account with a new name and block workers that have previously worked for them on other HITs that were posted under the old name. That's how it can happen that someone gets a suspension due to a block from a requester they never worked for.

What exactly are "click through" HITs? Are they those "Click on this link and copy/paste the url you land on"? I always thought they are harmless.

Tiger, your earlier question about the list is well answered at the other forum under "Hits you should not do" thread.

You should check reply no 50 :)
None of the "click through" HITs are harmless, they are aimed at increasing traffic to a website .... that goes under 'interference of search engine results'.

Yes, I know that list. I just always thought that the list is meant to warn you against spammers and scammers, dishonest requesters etc, but not that I could get my account suspended for doing them. That's what I was confused about. It's a weird system where requesters are allowed to post spam and outright scams and illegal HITs, and it's the workers who get punished

I did some captcha HITs in the past and also click-through, nothing of the others listed. I will be more careful in future! Thanks!

Here's a clarification - turkers can be suspended for not answering hits correctly, bot activity, or using multiple accounts. Doing TOS-breaking HITs won't get you suspended. Your suspension was due to one of the reasons above.

I have seen spamgirl's post. But I haven't done anything wrong. Then also my account was suspended. Why M Turk was not giving a warning before suspending the account. My approval rate was 99.6 then also my account was suspended. Also I don't have multiple accounts and no bot activity.

Many requesters bulk approve HITs even if they're done wrong and then block you from working on their stuff to get rid of you. Approval rate is not a sign of correct work.

    Hi Spamgirl,
Thank you for your reply. I have asked M turk whether any requester has blocked me from working on their hits but their answer was "No".

Spamgirl, sorry if I'm dumb, but I'm still confused  In the other Turker forum is a thread titled "If you do HITs that break the TOS you'll be banned", referring to that exact list of TOS-breaking HITs.
