Dear esteemed members, This is Sanjeev here and I am from India. First of all, many thanks for managing this wonderful community and give us the opportunity to express our concerns for the work on MTURK. I have joined MTurk in October-09 and have been able to earn $88.00 with approval rate of 98.3 for 625 approved hits. I lost my high paying job due to recession and have not been able to secure a full time job as of now. MTURK is my only earning source. I received an Account Warning today advising that I have been blocked for doing hits for the requester "Joseph Deal" and if any such blocks are imposed, my account will be suspended. I did 21 HITS for this gentleman wherein we need to find if a medical course is offered online or not. I was not able to find any such course online in these 20 HITS so as per his instruction, I mentioned NOT SPECIFIED in the provided box. One HIT was accidentally submitted for which I wrote a mail, apologized for the error and requested him not to reject the HIT. All HITS were approved, still I was blocked .I asked Joseph why he has blocked me but there has been no response. I have written an e-mail to Amazon Customer Support. I am enclosing the e-mail as it is. Not asked on the e-mail to Amazon but asking you all...is this could be because of my nationality? Please advise what should be my next course of action. The e-mail is enclosed below: Today, I received an account warning that I have been blocked for doing HITS for the requester Joseph Deal. I did 21 Hits for him and all were approved still he blocked me. I have so far done 625 approved HITs with 98.3 approval rate. I have done a thorough research before submitting the results for him and as the data required for online courses were not available, I have to write NOT SPECIFIED as per his instructions. I accidentally clicked submit on one of the hits without any data for which I apologized to him through contact form. I have also written to him for the reason behind this possible rejection but he has not responded. Questions- If My work was not of high quality, why it was approved???? Why no reason is supplied to me? Is it possible for you to investigate this as unreasonable blocks like this really de-motivates us- Regards-Sanjeev
This is what you will get a reply from mturk - " we don't interfere with any disputes between requester and worker. For any queries contact the requester directly." There is no use in contacting mturk. Better contact the requester again. I have done his HITS before. I don't think you can find information for all 21 HITS. You need research further. In the previous batch, I did 400 HITS, I was not able to find only for 15 to 20 HITS. have good research. You will never have any clue when you get blocked, your suspended or banned. Always be ready to face anything and ready to fight against it.
I have had a similar experience today and can understand how upsetting it is. I have done more than 100 HITs for this requester since November and all but one were approved. Today suddenly I got blocked from doing their HITs. I have written to them but got no reply. I don't understand it, it's completely out of the blue. Another worker experienced the same today with the same requester. I have also writen to customer support, but they can't help nor explain, as asvd22 correctly notes. The only thing that might be an explanation is what I found in the MTurk Participation Agreement: "You (the requester) acknowledge that, while Providers are agreeing to perform Services for you as independent contractors and not employees, repeated and frequent performance of Services by the same Provider on your behalf could result in reclassification of that employment status." Maybe some requesters are afraid that you will start making demands if they allow you to work regularly on their HITs. So they cut you out. I'm not sure if that's true though. It's a bummer in any case.
hello mr. please open new account becoz of mturk never reopened u r account beset way try to open new account and using new pan card and also u change the desktop computer means u change the new lan card u r computer and then create the new account or laptop menas u put additional usb lan card and then create u r account. ok
Sajeev Ji....... Have paitents & 1stly use Turkopticon...So u will be able see the public rating of a requester & always be active over this forum so u get updated regularly.
Better you contact the requester again and again. But be careful don't try to question what they did. U just try to convince them that you didn't do any mistakes. That is the only thing you can do now. And don't take Mturk as a full time job. That is not good. Also please don't try to create a new account. 90% they will suspend your new account. Getting one block is not a problem. Improve your work quality. Use turk opticon to get the feed back about requesters, And I am sure this is not because of Nationality. I too from India. I don't have any such problems so far. Wish you all the best.... Do your best...
You aren’t the first person this has happened to. Read his reviews on Turkopticon (search for A13CS6X9LYSBGR). Most of the reviews are OK, but there is one similar to yours (Sep 03 2009). I was under the impression it took three blocks to be suspended.... I could be wrong.
@imurreflection (Sanjeev) Hi Bro, The above advice is not good. Please don't go for that. You better don't do his works. There are many other good HITs in Mturk and try to use the scripts and use it with Turkopticon. They will tell whether a requester is good or bad...
@imurreflection Please consider these two users comments on this matter as good. They are telling the right way. If I were I would like to contact the requester and will convince him as Nadiya Sis told and after that will block his HITs so that I don't want to do his anymore. Also don't think you can big make money from this Mturk work/HITs.
