    My abandoned hit rate went up but I haven't abandoned any lately. The only reason I have any is from my first day when I didn't know how to return hits yet. But I noticed a change in the number. If there is a transcription that I attempt but give up on, I always leave feedback as to why and then return the hit. Any idea what could have made this happen?:confused:

    You must have been working on something, then left and forgot about it. Just a simple slipup, happens to me all the time. It's not really that big of a deal, no requesters look at it for qualification.

    Nope. Couldn't have happened. I only accept a HIT when I can sit down and do it then. That's what I thought, that maybe I didn't complete some of the bigger transcript files in time, but nope, they were all approved. Oh well, another freak thing.

    I've had this happen. It seems to occur when my internet cuts out right after accepting a hit, and then it appears that I haven't accepted so I accept the next and the last one shows as abandoned.

    I don't know if this is what happened to you, but a lot of times if you're doing any kind of batch hit where you have the "automatically accept next hit button" checked, it will sometimes assign you a extra hit or two. Then since you never know you have it, the hit gets abandoned. I usually check my hits assigned to me after I do some batch hits and there's usually one or two there I didn't know about.

    gbeenz, you are close but it's not fully correct. It's due to the "automatically accept next hit" check box but it never assigns more than 1 hit. The problem starts when you refresh the page with the auto accept option checked. You just don't recognize that there is another HIT going on in the background when you hit refresh.

    Well..I stand corrected. I didn't realize it was from refreshing the page, I just always noticed a hit or two assigned to me after I got done with a large batch. Thanks abrahamrohithroy

    Glad to help. I've had similar problems when I started turking. And now have 200 abandoned HITs. But I never had an abandoned HIT ever since I started using this forum. I gained this and many other knowledge from some great fellow turkers in this forum. Thanks to all.

    True dat. But also if you hit the back button it can happen. Many times if you hit back button then forward it'll take you back to your HIT, but it'll assign TWO extras.

    Yes, back and forward does the same function as refresh in many browsers.

    My abandoned rate was 55 at 11% tonight when i noticed. ughh I only refresh occasionally-i think its the back button-but I am wondering if this happens just by browsing hits without accepting jobs ? 55 seems really high in such a short time.

    I wouldn't worry anything about it. The only time I get an abandon hit is when I forget to check the time and some new requester has the time set for 60 seconds or 5 minutes on something that takes 6... I always send them an email too and tell them to wise up and set their timers for 10 times what it takes to do a hit so people don't have to rush or the time run out!

    I pay not attention to my abandon hits... it's something I just ignore! Requesters don't care about that. I've started on some that I wish I would have abandoned. Like this survey I did earlier. OMG. It took over an hour and a half.. no joke! The pay was good but for the time it wasn't such a good deal.

    Few HITs will have a requirement on abandoned HIT ratio. It'll lessen as you complete more HITs anyhow.

    Just don't hit the back button. If your on a webpage that doesn't have a text edit box (try this! Beside these posts there is a white margin. Click anywhere on it and hit the backspace button. It should take you back a page) and hit backspace it'll go back. If you hit forward again you will be assigned TWO HITs in the BACKGROUND. If you hit back and then refresh I think it's only 1 in the background, but could be two.

    Refresh = +1 HIT
    Back + forward = +2 HITs

    You won't see these HITs unless you go to "HITs assigned to you"
