I've been real busy lately and have 58 submission, 47 of which have been approved, 10 are still pending and 1 has been rejected. I was really shocked that one was rejected so I had a look at the reasoning and it said this: "If you are seeing this message please ignore it, there was an error with your submission. Your HIT will be approved within 24 hours" It's been 24hrs and it has not been approved. I've messaged the creator and am waiting to hear back from them. It was a $6.00 HIT, I feel like I've been scammed here? Is this normal?
I've never seen anything like that before. A $6 HIT sounds suspicious anyway but that message sounds even more so
What was the HIT exactly? $6 HITs aren't necessarily suspicious depending on what they are. I've done plenty of surveys that have paid anywhere from $5-$10. As long as it isn't one of those ones where you fill out information for a free credit report, car insurance quote, etc. THOSE hits are scams.
It was one where they wanted you to fill out a dating site profile and prove that you'd activated it. I've one two of these so far, one rejected and one still pending.
Welcome to the forum, mturklady. Your comment makes me chuckle, because it truly is a newbie statement. Read further on this forum and you will discover why you absolutely need to be careful. In this case, you might have tried searching "dating" or "dating profile" to get more information about such HITs first. I am a newbie myself: September 1 was my first day on AMT. I have a post up with some very basic tips on getting the most helpful information to get you off to a good start. It's right here. I'll be starting a thread later today that'll start with that information and then give a few more suggestions to newbies on how to most effectively take advantage of the info all over this forum. It's really helped me in having a rewarding time with Turking!
Yes, this is true, but I never got a HIT that paid good money before I at least had 500 approved under my belt. I shouldn't have said it was suspicious and left it at that, just that for a newbie it's pretty rare to find something that good without it being a little suspicious.
It's a shame why those HITS that violate the mTurk policy continue to stay even after some of us report them. The report button is useless. I never could understand why people are willing to sign up for a dating profile/credit reports with their information. I guess people will do anything for money and aren't wanting to protect their identity. I've had identity theft on my name/info and it isn't fun.
I got those when I first started. Those are scam HIT's. You will not be paid and Amazon will not remove the reject even though they have kicked the requestor off. It's just a live and learn thing.
Thanks all! Thankfully I only did two of those types of ones. I've begun clicking the 'report' button on any ones that I do see.
You could offer me $600 and I still wouldn't give you my personal info, regardless of mTurk policies. The people who want it are up to no good and unless they are affiliated with a reputable organization like an university, you can be pretty sure they are scammers.
