Lately, when I do a HIT search on Mechanical Turk, the page has been coming up blank a lot. Like this:

I am "test-driving" the as of now, unreleased Windows 7 (replacement for Vista), so I don't know if its a bug with "7" or a problemo on Amazon's end.

Not a huge deal, but annoying when I miss out on a "Find this product" HIT...my fav :D

Anyone else having the same issue?

I get a partially blank page when I click on "HITS available to you". I get only one result/one HIT on the page and the remaining page comes up blank.

When I refresh the page, I can see all the search results or HITS. Refresh the page and maybe your problem will be solved.

I've had the same thing happen a few times over the last few weeks. I try refreshing first, and if that doesn't work(sometimes it does), then I go back to the "available HITS" , click that, and it goes back to normal.

No problems here. Maybe it's random glitches and I happen to be missing them.

If you used firefox and it worked then you could rule out the issue being Windows 7.

Just started happening to me a few minutes ago. A couple times I got blank pages, and one time the page stopped loading after showing three HITs.

    Great...Thanks guys.

So sorry that I did'nt answer back sooner, but I got a first-time-out infatuation with Askville-Answers, but thats a another topic for sure. Been busy with them. My bad.

So it looks like I'm not the only one that sometimes has such problems. (Lucky Shego!). It is just that I never experienced them much while I was using Windows Vista. Prolly a coincidence.

@Sonica...since I posted this, I have experienced the same,"I get only one result/one HIT", so I guess I ain't alone.

@Fthgrrl...yeah an "F5" usually works for me too, but it takes so long and time IS money. And oh yeah, Swagbucks rules...just won my 3rd "fin" from Amazon.

@shego...seems like you are the lucky-lady!:D

@Andy...well I have never been able to get Firefox to run acceptablly on this machine. My prefered browser for MTurk is Opera, it makes those AEI picture URL grabbing HITS, so simple. A fast browser. OOPS my secret is out.

@ergo...yes yes yes, Monday was real bad for me too. Glad I'm not alone.

Are we all looking for new HITS so often, that we are taxing the Amazon servers THAT bad? Damn, then the economy is worse then I thought.

I too was having this problem few days back. But lately, I'm facing another problem, that is, the site (obviously, I'm talking about mturk) doesn't load at times but loads alright when refreshed (sometimes more than once). I've been hit by this problem loads of times today.

And yeah, this problem is limited to mturk only, I've had no problems while browsing other sites. So there's no problem with my connection, that's for sure.

I also have the same problem.

I have another problem too. That is the result page showing Hits Available : 200 after I accept a hit in any batch. Soon after I submit the accepted hit it shows the original figure.

I wrote to customer service about this 3 times. I got canned messages every time and all the times they do nothing except changing my password.

You mean I'm not alone? I thought I was the only Opera user in Turkdom. It's been my favorite browser for nearly a decade now. :) There are things I like about Firefox, eg. the extension system, but nonetheless I use Opera most of the time. No other browser I've tried is as responsive when dealing with multiple tabs.

Ah, so you must remember the days when Opera included that big ol' advertising banner at the top unless one shelled out $39.95 for the paid version? :(

The only thing that I like dislike about Opera is I have a couple of macros that I use with my 5 button IntelliMouse Explorer, that speed certain things up for me while Turking, and I just can't seem to get them to work reliably in Opera.

Now that I am running Windows 7, I will have to give Firefox another go. It was a disaster with Vista for me, > 1 minute to start it and the Greasemonkey extension wouldn't 'play' at all.

Yep. I actually shelled out for it, too. Back then Opera really had no competition, so I was happy to support the best browser around. Still would be if they'd kept ahead of the competition like they should have. Now they're barely even keeping up. I still use it mainly because I can open a few dozen tabs without slowing my computer down one lick. Maybe I should rethink how I browse. ;)

Greasemonkey is the single most compelling reason to use Firefox, in my mind at least. Although Opera offers most of the same functionality through user scripts, it really needs an install/management system. If Firefox ran better on my machine, I'd probably use it all the time. Good luck trying it again. I've heard mostly great things about Windows 7 performance compared to Vista, so it's defnitely worth a shot.
