I see some of you are making upwards for 20 dollar a day, I just started 2 weeks ago and I'm lucky if I even get 5 dollars a day working for 4-6 hours. Do you have any advice for us new turkers? Do you only do hits that pay more than a certain amount? Any advice would be helpful :) Thank you

set yourself an hourly goal. Get your hit count up. I have seen requirements as high as needing 20k approved hits. Find work that you are good at. Do not limit yourself, stay open to new types of work. Find reliable good requesters. The most important one though... dont listen to me! lol jk

I aim for at least $20 a day, some days I make more and some days I make less. It is nice when a good requester posts some batch HITS and you can can knock out a couple of hundred or more of them. Surveys, if decent length for the pay, also will help your daily total!

As for specific HITS, you just have to hope you are turking when they show up! Wish I could be more helpful...:)

I've been doing this for three years, and I'm usually lucky to make $10 a day. Damned if I'll ever know how these $20 a day people are doing it.

Once you get all your quals and figure out what requesters to work for you'll be set.

I've been turking pretty sporadically today, just popping in every once in awhile to see what is available. I just went over $25 for the day.

It is really just learning who to work for and how to use your time efficiently. There is a big learning curve and you're going to waste your time with a lot of requesters that just aren't worth it. I bookmark all of the requesters that pay well (normally $5/hour+) and constantly check to see if they have hits up. I aim to make $30-$60/day. That being said, I do have full days to dedicate to Mturk unlike many people.

You should do whatever you can until you hit 1000 approved hits, because there are many good requesters that require at least that many to be able to do their hits. Personally it took me a couple of months and several rejections until I figured it out. You have made a good step by coming here and asking questions.

You should be wary which hits you take because the lower your hit total the less rejections you can handle. So if it is a hit that you are not absolutely sure of then do some test hits and make sure they approve before you dive in and do 100's of them. Its imperative that you keep your approval rating above 99% for the better hits.

Find good requesters and sign up for turkalert so you get notified when they post hits. Add TurkOpticon to your browser so you can be aware of scammers. If its sounds too good to be true it is. Watch out for any hits that use the words signup, simple, profile, Credit report, test, download and usability(except for TryMyUiAdministrator: They are legit). Most of these are scams. Basically if you have to signup and use your real info then its probably a scam and you most likely wont get anything except a rejection.

Some great requesters ask for email but that is technically against TOS so its up to you and your comfort level as to whether to trust them, but honestly you are going to miss out on great hits if you refuse to give anyone your email(you can always get a GMail account just for Turking).

Until you build up some approvals then your mission should be to get as many "sure things" as you can. Bite the bullet and do some of the Oscar hits. They pay for shit but he doesnt reject. Also I did a bunch of the Webs Image Filter photo mod hits. These are easy and pay nothing(.01), but I can easily do them as I watch TV and I have never had a rejection, be aware that some may contain graphic images and that some of the other photo mod hits use Majority Rules and you should stay clear of any requester like that.

Basically there is no cookie cutter template to making money on MTurk, its all about what you can do and how fast you can do it with a ton of luck thrown in. This past week I made .60 on Sun but $40 on Thurs with between $10-20 every other day. It a crap shoot unless you can transcribe and do it fast. Just find hits you like, dont sell yourself for pennies and dont fall for the easy money scams.

Like everyone has said, until you hit 1K approved HITs and at least 95% approval (97-99% is better), way more work will open up for you. Until then, don't beat yourself up. Set a low goal and adjust it as more work opens up to you. It's hard to get started, but it'll happen :)

Hell I have been doing this for 3 months and I'm still lucky to hit the $10 I push for every day. Some days I go a bit over, some a bit less. My highest day was $20 which is shameful compared to most here. I would love to hit $20 a day [altho I don't think I'd expect that on the weekends] but I don't anticipate that happening any time soon unfortunately.

Once you get a higher overall HIT count and keep a decent approval % you'll hopefully get into a groove.

I've only been doing this a few days but so far am averaging $10 each day. I think part of it is luck but I search for higher paying survey hits. Also when I'm finished for the day I do some easy super low paying batch hits to get my numbers up. I found ppc wwbp yesterday and have increased my speed enough to average $4.5 per hour with them. Unfortunately because of the newbie cap I can't even do 100 of them yet. Anyway, I've been following the advice provided by many on here and doing as many of the ones posted in the Great Hits as I can as well. I hope that helps.

I've been doing this for a long while... my amount I make per day varies... some days I make 35 to 40 and others 25 or so... and sometimes I go right below 20... but that is rare!

My advise is to ask questions if you don't understand something. Use Turkopticon to check requesters stats... if they're in red then don't go near their hits.. if they're in yellow read the problems and see... but I try to stay clear of those as well! If they have no reviews then use them at your own risk! I am bad for trying out new requesters because I've made quite a bit of money doing that! But a lot of people stay away from the new requesters for fear of them being scammers. I usually check their HIT out thoroughly before diving in!

Also another tip... once you get started on a HIT and you are afraid you may not be able to do it correctly just return it... it doesn't hurt to return a hit but it kills you to get a reject!

Be patient and work hard and your numbers will pay off! And don't be afraid to ask questions.

    Good luck

That's the other issue. It takes a while to learn how HITs work and what they want you to do. Like surveys? After you do a hundred or so, you'll spot the iffy ones and you'll see the same questions over and over again. I've got bookmarks to websites I need for certain hits, I've got HITs that took me 30 minutes to figure out how to do and 5-6 minutes to do them the first time that now take me 30 seconds to do. It's a lot about familiarity. You'll get there. I'm not like the others. I only turk about 2 hours a day, tops, but I can make about $10 a day doing that. Not great, not hourly wage, but it works for me.
