Thank you all for your input and support. I was going to reply to each, but I'm out of time at the moment. I normally don't get so worked up, but I was feverishly packing for my little girls gymnastics competition 7 hrs away that we're about to leave for, trying to tie up all loose ends with $$, meanwhile my daughter was sobbing because she'd just broken her brand new Ipod she's saved up for for a year. (poor baby ) Then I sign on to transfer my $$ and see I'm blocked..... Well, that was the straw that broke the camel's back, as the saying goes. I'm a young(ish) single mom, and there's no way of me paying my bills without Mturk right now. I've decided to put it out of my mind for now, and wait for a reply from Mturk. We've got a long drive ahead of us to the beach for the competition, and I'm not going to let this ruin things. I'll check back here tomorrow on things, but right now it's BEACH OR BUST! Are all 3 accounts suspended, or just yours? If it is just yours, then I doubt it was because of the shared IP thing.
ip address Hi! I just registered after lurking for a few days. When I signed up with mturk I lived at an apartment with my son and a few weeks later he wanted to sign up so i emailed amazon to ask if we could have 2 accounts at the same address - they said as long as he enters his separate info. ss# etc. it was ok - my son never did really get into it, and he's probably only done a survey now and then. I moved away but there's no internet where I live-I sometimes turk from my bf's parents house but usually I wait until I visit my son to turk. I am worried now, I think I'm going to tell him not to do anymore turking for now? I lost my job recently and can't afford to get suspended!! what do you think? I'm so tired at the moment from turking all night I can't think
jessgrl - no, don't worry. I got a reply from Mturk & multiple users from IPs is OK. I'm at the beach right now and the wifi keeps cutting off and on idk why. I'll post the email from them & stuff bc the whole thing turned out to be crazier than I imagined. The gist is that they say I had multiple accts w/my name&info & theyve closed all out but one and that I can work from "the one they havent closed out". The thing is, I don't and have never had multiple accts. The whole thing just gets so much crazier I'll have to post details when I can get back to my email without it taking 20 min. (tomorrow night)
Wow.. they should start implementing more validation to make sure we are who we say we are. I know it is more hassle but imagine if this happened to you. Someone outside of the US or maybe even in the US jerk gets your personal information. Just enough to make an account in your name. That would completely suck! I have no problem with providing copies of ID or anything else they implement to PROVE I am me. If it stops the scenario posted above from happening I am 100% for it. Tighten up Amazon!
I'm glad your able to use your account. I got a response too, but they won't tell me what I did wrong. They said if they decide to unsuspend my account, they'll let me know.. but they won't let me know if they found that I "violated the participation agreement" :-/ I'm really upset about it, but I am glad you got your account worked out (well.. kinda..)
Have you ever had an Amazon Affiliates account in the past, maybe for an old website that you've long since abandoned? If you had an old inactive Affiliates account under another email address, that could be the culprit.
Also.. don't you have to enter your SS so this doesn't happen? I'm confused about that... or do they just mean someone used your name and address and different SS#?
Hi all. Traveling back now from beach. Beligerent- no i still cant use my acct. They saythey have left my "primary worker acct" open and sent info to that email address. Since i have noother acct god knows who or what they refer to as my "primary". Retherreplies. No, i had never signed up for amazon priorto mturk . I opened it april9 2012. Before that i had never even bought anything from amazon even. Could someone have hacked me? Yeah maybe, but the fact that they are referring to my "primary worker acct" being left open is whats even more confusing. To me, "primary" implies it would be the acct 1st opened or mostused, yaknow? The possibility of some1 stealing my identity to signup for mturk before i read about it and joined would be so odd that i dont even consider it as possibility. Why the word " primary.!". Makes no sense. All ik ow is ive never given amazon info prior to the date issigned up for mturk w the ONLY acct ive ever had! Sent them another email back sat. JUST NOWgot email saying aamazon email failed, system will retry in 48 hrs to send,and for me not to send another one. Igotta big WTF in my brain right noww. Only thing i know for sure is i can easily prove that there is only one primary me, and i AM her. When and if they allow me to prove that is the next mystery. Ugh. Sorry. Ok so now this sounds familiar. This happened to me when I first started. Somehow I had my account tied to two accounts and one of them was closed.
In my case it was easy. The one that they closed wasn't the one I used often. How I even KNEW was that my brother tried to use my email to setup an account for himself. The account was one of my old Amazon(the buying site) accounts that he had been buying off of so he just used it for mturk. After querying mturk about the issues we found that it had been "locked" since it was a duplicate. It was months ago so I don't remember the specifics. I honestly don't even remember using the account(but I had been on Ambien for sleep at the time, and a side effect is doing strange things in your sleep ) So, if somehow you had started one that'll be the one that isn't locked. Of course it could still be different, i'm unsure. Ask them about the existing account. They gave us the email that had been registered(I think?). Idk it was months ago and I was trying new meds so that month(s) is fuzzy.
^ OK, my brother or sister registering on Amazon in my name (to buy something) is a possibility. Or I possibly may have registered long ago to buy something on behalf of someone. (I just know I myself never have bought from Amazon). But certainly under no condition did they ever sign up for MTurk w my info. If I could get an answer from Amazon, it would be great.

But the account they suspended IS your primary account, isn't it? Do you even know what this other email address is that they think you have an account under?
Right. That's the mystery. I would not know where to begin on looking for a "primary account". I know for a fact I've never signed up for Mturk other than the acct that they've suspended. So this so called "primary account" could be anything. There's nowhere for me to start looking. I'm wondering if this is just a big scheme in the first place. They haven't replied at all to my email regarding it. Maybe they sent the reply to my so called "email associated with my primary worker account" geez....
